Market for 993s

Just a thought; have you tried SOR with someone; say Gmund? When I sold my 993 4S, I had a guy who was going to buy it - spent all Sunday morning climbing all over the car, checked all the receipts, had it inspected etc then pulled out on the day that he was meant to collect it[:'(].
Andrew at Gmund collected my car the following Wednesday and it was sold the next week! Painless! We had agreed a price prior to collection based on my description and deal done. Some people like the security of a showroom environment, no what a bargain your car may be - I think when it comes to parting with significant sums of dosh people will always be nervous.
Maybe I was lucky and the C4S market is (or was) different to todays market? I'll let you know how i fair when the 997S goes up for sale (imminently).
Cheers

You think you got problems - try selling an unusual 964. But I know what you mean.
I must admit that I would have had a look at your car, which looks immaculate, but the interior colour is a tad fragile for my needs.
Richard
It is not that fragile a colour as I use a leather conditioner for cabriolets that has waterproof properties, so everything just wipes off

Disagree with that last remark about people with £25K+ to spend. Having just bought privately - from a very good contact though - I reckon that I have saved between £4K - £6K. Even with a few bits to put right sooner or later, thats a fair saving.
Have you just joined the ranks of the 993 owners?
Ian.
My previous Porsches were both sold to the first people who turned up - it's the luck of the draw I suppose. [>:]

Think the problem here is all prices being driven down - so same on 993's - my friend has just bought a 20,000 mile facelift 996 with M030, leather etc etc etc for £28k!
Will's 993 will undoubtedly be in top condition but Will I think Arena red has a very limited market...you may have to be patient or drop the price a little.....or just enjoy it a bit longer[]

Yes, I just changed the 964 into a 993 this week. 1997 993C4S, 70K miles, full OPC history (Guildord/AFN) Arctic Silver, Metropole Blue, very recent service, four new tyres, two new rear shocks, pretty close to immaculate. £29750. Even if I need to renew the clutch fairly soon, not a bad saving over dealer prices I think.
I will change my photo when the weather cools down a bit - too hot to go outside now...

I suppose buying privately and having a ppi done before agreeing final price saves all round and gets someone who understands Porsche to advise on future costs etc.
Thats how i brought my 1996 993 Targa in zenith blue, another colour that has its fans ( maurice i presume ) and critics. theres always someone who has the same tastes as you! I for one also like arena red. Good luck it looks great!
Regards
Steve
