I've read in a lot of threads about people needing these for their 996s and thought those that haven't needed them yet might benefit from my experience: I was in Germany in May this year and had a whole day to get from Frankfurt to CERAM (Paris) so thought I would take a detour via, Zuffenhausen. On the way the ABS and PSM lights came on so I popped into the dealer in Stuttgart and asked if they would be kind enough to investigate and tell me if the car was safe to continue to Paris: Not only did they check the car as soon as the techs returned from lunch, but they replaced both MAF and pedal sensors on the spot and the total bill came to €360:00!!! Less than half the price quoted by my local OPC and with an invoice from the 'factory' to add to my service history file...
Had I not been there on business anyway, I reckon the saving would have paid for most of the trip (I'm thinking of visiting the new Porsche Museum when I'm due for my next major service!)
Just out of interest, for those that haven't been, the showroom at the dealer Stuttgart is just awesome: 3 floors of Porsches new & used, more accessories than you can shake a stick at, and god knows how many cars in the service car park!
