well I am beginning to think buying a Boxster was a bad decision. I have a oil leak from the RH output shat from the diff 12 hrs labour est as I am told the engine has to come out to do this. furthermore sometimes when I start I get a huge cloud of smoke. If you search Utube for Boxster blowing smoke you will see what I mean. (this is not my car) but mine does the same. Not each time I start but more often than I like.
Research tells me the oil,air separator is failing mmm. I have my car booked in to Porsche for a free health check tomorow so I will ask how much to replace the OAS and probably get a long list of other stuff

12 hours and engine out for a RH diff seal isn't correct. Book time is 1.1 hours for manual, 1.4 hours for Tiptronic, which is slightly optimistic, but much closer to the actual time. LH is longer for a Tip, but nothing like 12 hours.

An AOS change is about an hour's job.

Find yourself a decent independent specialist, and you'll find running a Boxster a much cheaper experience.

well , took my boxster to the dealer in Reading forthe free health check. while ther my OAS failed. hudge amounts of smoke and engine light on. had two options tow to an independant or get the job done there a tow was £280 then the independant cost of £300 so had it done by the dealer.......£684 but running like a watch. all this and i have only had the car two weeks.

what next
