My father went in to replace two tyres on his BMW. The original items were Dunlop SP Sport 2000 255/45 ZR18's. He went to Kwik- Fit who had to order them in for the afternoon, and said they only had Michelin Pilot Sports at £220 per tyre. Later on I told him I found the Dunlops at mytres.co.uk for £144.40 and the Michelin's for £189.40.
He returned and told them incorrectly that he could get the Michelin's for £140 on the net. They then offered him both Michelin's for £140 instead of £220 each. A saving of £160 on their original price and a discount of almost £100 on the mytyres price!
Goes to show how much profit they make, and how much bargaining power we really have.
