Mats

Hi,

I'm currently on my 3rd 996 and have had the same problem in all of them but never bothered to try and fix it. Pretty much every time I go out for a drive after about half an hour the plastic clips that hold the mats in place have popped out and the mat ends up getting in the way of the pedals. After twisting them back in and repositioning the mats they stick for a while but eventually pop out again.

Is there a simple fix for this? Or is it something that you just have to put up with on 996s?

Thanks,
Gavin

Don't you have the round Velcro pads to hold the carpet at the back? They work really well on mine - I never have that problem.

Yep, it's the round velcro pads that keep popping out. They seem to be quite secure when I put them back in but work themselves loose again. I might have to invest in some lighter footwear for the 911 [:)]

Doesn't happen in mine either...

As an aside, is it me, or are the mats really poor quality? I bought some new ones recently, and already a pronounced wear mark under the clutch pedal. Wouldn't bother with OE again.

Anyone recommend a good alternative ??

I've been thinking of replacing the mats since there's some wear on the driver's one. I've been considering these people http://www.autostyle.co.uk/ but - as yet - I've not tried them.

Are you talking about the round "discs" that the velcro on the under side of the mats fix to?

If so, they shouldn't keep "popping out". I know it sounds daft but have you tried screwing them into the holes not pushing them in? Mine are screwed in (they are threaded) and they hold very fast.

Just a thought.
