Matt's car in print?

Matt, I assume that it is your car in this months 911 & porsche world? up on the ramps with the wheels off? In the article on RPM. I think they have the cheek to call it a widebody turbo trackday car!!

Undergoing an oil change by the looks of it :)

My car is now at the other RPM having the engine done.

Yeah I noticed the car too :) Don't normally buy 911&PW but simply had to due to the 964RS feature.

yeah, thats why I bought it too. Didnt think the feature was that great actually, but someone clearly had a good day out!! The only interesting bit was the fact that the C4lwt was underdeveloped.

I bought 911 & Porsche World because it had the feature on the RS and the feature on the 917; and yes, that is Matt's car in RPM's garage!

We had it out at Donington on Tuesday evening - it had a slight air leak which appeared to be causing some lag, but it went well otherwise. Because of the lag I was a little bit more cautious than usual at some corners, but despite that caught and passed a GT3 whose driver tried his best to stay ahead, but his lines went to pot when he was under pressure, missing apexes and getting very untidy; when he eventually moved I was able to pull away quite easily.

Matt's mate, Chris was also there with his M3 Cabrio and we had a bit of fun in that at the end of the evening! [:D]

Agreed h___ , I was a little disappointed with the description!

...and Tim, yes we had fun and learned a little more...albeit a last minute booking!

Who's Gritterboy?? [&:] Melv I don't think you realise how quick Matt's car is!

If the bloody camera had worked you would have been able to see for yourself. Unfortunately it recorded five minutes of us getting strapped in then switched off as soon as we moved! I've since found that the camera, a Sony digital with a hard drive, has a protection system which disengages the hard drive if the camera receives a hard knock. They reckon that's what's causing it to stop recording the moment the car moves![>:]

I bought the mag too. Sat down expecting a good in depth read of driving impressions from a chap who should be able to give good feedback. What i got instead could have been written on a postage stamp [:(] Apparently the RS understeers, the lightweight C4 does a bit of both depending on set up and the 3.8 has much more grip . What a revalation. I guess for non owners and those who have not had the pleasure of driving or riding in these cars it could be informative.

Exactly! they also didnt seem to take into account the fact that all 3 cars are 15+ years and therefore suspension is unlikely to still be setup as it was from the factory!

Nice pics I guess.

I too was somewhat disappointed with the said article. To be honest I cannot recall the last time that I read a decent article in one of the Porsche mags.[&o] Thank goodness that we have this forum!

Going back to the article, one particular point which did surprise me was that the owner of the 3 cars said that if he could only keep one of them then it would have to be the standard RS lightweight. Hey, I am not knocking the RS but surely it must be seen as being further down the proverbial ladder than both the 3.8 and the C4 Lightweight? Very interesting none the less! ....Your thoughts please?

That suprised me too, I guess people that driven the other 2 are better placed to comment. I can see why the C4LWT might not be his car of choice, but suprised he felt that the 3.8 wasnt the one to have. Perhaps the 3.6RS just has a little more feel, being smaller and probably having less grip than the other two? Just a guess.
