Max speed for 993 Tip Gears?

Does anyone know how I can find the typical max. speeds for each gear in a Tiptronic 993? (can't find it in Paul Frere's book?)

I've had the car remapped by Wayne Schofield recently and it certainly feels better in a number of ways. When I floor it (when nicely warmed up of course), as you'll know, it changes up at the red line. Previously I remember doing this and getting to 4th just about the right side of 100. Now I'm hitting well over 100 in 3rd and I've not been brave/stupid enough to keep the foot down for 4th in case the boys in blue are lurking - but then they don't often hang around disused airfields [:D]

Is it in the back of the owners handbook?

I know the manual speed / gears info is there

Cannot see why you would get more speed unless the rev limiter was increased. 6800 RPM in 3rd will always give the same speed with the same gear ratio. The tune will only get it there faster.

According to the chart at the back of the handbook you should be hitting 120 mph at the top end of third in a tip. And that's for a 272 hp model. [8|]

You might want to get the speedo checked before you lose your licence [;)]

Has the re-map altered the gear change points?
What other benefits have you gained from the re-map? Was it worth it?
Many thanks
Graham

I've not had the enough time to assess it properly, on the right sort of roads - but first impressions are:
- the car generally feels 'sweeter' & more responsive
- gear changes on the Tip feel slightly smoother
- mid to top-end (4000rpm+) really seems to have more urgency

Apparently my car was only giving out about 260bhp, then 272bhp after a loose park plug lead was connected properly (a common problem apparently), and then 295bhp after the remap.

Wayne reckons that Varioram's (& especially Tiptronics) do not see as much improvement as, say, a non-vario manual, but he also reckons it's quite common for Tiptronics to come out of the factory achieving less that the official bhp numbers.

So far, I'd say it was worth it and I've got a better car. (Ask me again in 2-3 months.)

The gear ratios of the tiptronic ROW and US is as follows.
1st - 2.48
2nd - 1.48
3rd - 1.00
4th - 0.73

Electronic engine cutoff is mapped electronically with the gearbox mapping and is not static.
5 different mappings in tiptronic cartography. 3 normal and 2 sport.
brain pre-selects mapping depending on several factors of which, accelerator pedal, car inclination, speed, rpm, etc.

When in MANUAL mode and sport mapping:
From 1st - 2nd gear, tiptronic will force shift at 6200 rpm, emergency engine cutoff 6900rpm
From 2nd - 3rd gear, tiptronic will force shift at 6500 rpm, emergency engine cutoff 7000 rpm
From 3rd - 4th gear, tiptronic will force shift at 6900 rpm, emergency engine cutoff at 7100 rpm.
IN 4th gear, engine electronic cutoff is raised to 7500 rpm (mid red) to achieve 268 Kph top speed.

speed limits for 993 (at the rpms discussed above):
1st gear - 54kph
2nd gear-128kph
3rd gear-183kph
4th gear- 265-275 as mentioned above

If I understood your question well, this is the info you wanted
Mind you, your car with tip will perform depending on what the computer will select as mapping , aggressive or soft
if you happen to have the workshop manual, it is well explained inside
regards
