Maxi Cosi Rodi XP child seat

Does anyone know why it is not recomended to fit the XP version in the back of a 993, but it is OK to fit the standard Maxi Cosi Rodi?

Apart from all the plastic gubbings that you can take off anyway, they appear exactly the same size?

Cheers,

Hi Shane, the Rodi SPS is the seat that fits properly in the back. The Priori XP/SPS (Group 1) has a base that's too large for the seat, we have one in my wife's car & it's a great seat but way too big for the 993.
Hope this helps,
Jonathan.

Thanks Jonathan. I did wonder whether people had been referring to the Priory XP.

Off to Halfords on-line it is then.

Jonathan,

I see you have a Cab, have you changed the seat belts in the rear of your car to take the child seat?

I only have a lap belt in my M reg 993 Cab (also in Polar Silver)

I did alot of trial fits of various car seats in my car and foud the main problem was not finding a seat that would fit but finding one where the seatbelt buckle was at the right height. I found that on my car the seatbelt buckle is on a relatively long cable meaning that it extends too far up the side of the seats and you cannot get them secure enough. I ended up going for a Brittax Freeway which is specifically for 944's (and I guess 993's) but it is discontinued. However I found a chap on ebay selling brand new ex-stock ones that were still boxes and unused. However I still found it didn't fit very securely in the back seats though it fits very well in the front one. I've been thinking about getting a different seatbelt buckle on a shorter cable - maybe a 993 seatbelt system might bolt straight in?

Has anyone else found this same problem with the seatbeltsa? How long is the seatbelt buckle cable on a 993? On my car it is a good 6 inches or so and really needs to be as short as possible.

Neil, yes I had 3 point belts fitted at the Safety Belt Centre at Stanmore. Apparently Cab's can't have inertia belts fitted due to the space involved, but the adjustable 3 point belts are very good. My baby seat fits very snugly and she is about to move up into a Klippan seat that I have just bought which is a really excellent secure fit due to the fixed belt. My older boy is in a Maxi-Cosi Rodi SPS which is also a really good fit. This gets a bit complicated when the roof goes down because the head support has to come off the Maxi-Cosi seat, so I don't really put the roof down with him at this stage.
Hope this helps.

Sorry to go slightly off topic, but you all obviousely have kids and 993s.
I have a 993 and a 6 month old, when he gets a bit older I will be able to hopefully get him in the car in a front facing seat. The seats you guys have been refering to are for children a bit older.
My question is what car seat did you use in the 9 months old to 3 years old stage?
Once he can go in a front facing seat on the back seat I may at last be able to use the car! (I have had it 5 weeks and only driven once, on the day I purchased it, my wife hasn't been in it, neither has the little 'un).
