May weekend drive

pae

New member
Well, I'll kick this off with an invite for a drive on 14th May, set off at 1:00pm from the Gardeners Arms.

I'm at Silverstone myself, so will leave it to someone else to lead (or post if you want to move the date to the 7th)

Phil

I'll offer to lead a drive to Bewl Water near Lamberhurst or Box Hill, near Dorking.

But it'll have to be on the 7th.

Phil

If it is the 7th then I should finally be able to make one of these runs. Although it will be subject to me navigting my way round Castle Coombe on the 6th!

Yes, there are supposed to be 40+ 928s attending plus a couple of classic 911s and a M3 CSL. As it is my first trackday I am looking forward to it and dreading it at the same time!

If the monthly run is on the 7th you can definitely use my passenger seat, mind you, if you get an offer of a ride in a GT3 RS or similar I will understand. [;)]

Cheers

Thanks - well, there's your cue everyone - who's going to make the best offer and win the prize of having me in the passenger seat....... [&:]

hey, I could change cars every few miles and give marks out of 10 at the end [:D]

or I could be seriously embarrased and find no offers at all...[][]

Phil

Missed lasts months run. Should be able to make May, and will have a spare chair in the 997. There you go two out of two offers "" no red face.

Thanks James.

Are we agreed on doing this next Saturday (7th) ????

This was meant to be a 'second Saturday' event - the only reason I proposed the 7th is because I'm not around on the 14th (Silverstone FIA-GT), but as I'm now having to hitch a ride anyway I don't want to over-rule the rest of you.

Mind you, I can navigate easier from the passenger seat if you still want me to choose the route....... [;)]

I'll be at The Gardeners Arms at 1pm this Saturday (7th). Hope I get some company [&:]

Last month's meet at the Gardeners Arms was my first, throughly enjoyed it in my '67 911S.
Sadly tomorrow is my god-daughters birthday so I'll not be attending. Have a good one.

Only 3 of us this time but we enjoyed it. Me (with daughter in tow as usual), Robert from Chichester area in his black Boxster S and Clive from Crawley in 928S4,

I decided to bring the car out and led across Ashdown Forest, south of Tunbridge Wells and down to Bewl Water - where we rapidly turned round because it costs £5 to park !!! [] So we moved on to the luxury of the Little Chef down the road and stopped for a while before returning via Etchingham, Burwash and Heathfield, where I departed and left the other 2 to make their way back. Thanks for coming along guys, see you soon.

A good run, mostly very sunny, we picked up a stray 997 at one point, but he soon turned off - didn't think we looked that rough [;)]

Thanks for taking the lead Phil, that was an excellent run through the countryside and it was a pleasure to meet Robert.

I hope to be around to make the run in June and hopefully the convoy will be similar to the previous months.

Thanks again.

Phil and Clive, thanks for a great afternoon run through parts of East Sussex and Kent.Coming from the western end of West Sussex it is good to see other parts of Sussex and the weald-some tempting looking pubs as well.Hope to see you at a June meeting or run.

Robert Sawers,

Basalt Black Boxster S 2004.

Sorry I didn't make it this month, I don't really have a good excuse except that time seamed to slip away on Saturday, and I forgot about the drive until I realised it was nearly 3pm[:D] Oh well at least I'm being honest! Hopefully see people at next months.

It would have been good to have you along Dan, still we'll do it all again next month. I'll post sometime soon with ideas.

(it was a lot easier leading 2 cars rather than 8 as on the first run, though !)

Phil
