Well with the long awaited release of the Raspbery PI when I manage to get my hands on one I will be putting one where the CD rack is or somewhere in the centre console running XBMC as a media centre.

My other two cars have Old Xbox's running XBMC which was great 10 years ago but now there big and cumbersome and thats why I never put one in the 996.

But with the PI able to fit in a fag packet its ideal, plus even better than running XBMC on it maybe Centrafuse will soon be an proper Linux release so it can have navigation and engine management readouts etc as well as music and films.
If you haven't got the foggiest what I'm on about

Richard,

I have been following the development of this great product for a year now. I run XBMC on a couple of old XBOXs which i have converted into media centres and they are great for streaming music photos and films (shame it is not HD!!!) around the house.

How would the PI be controlled in the car? any ideas?

I know they are being manufactured in China as opposed to the UK, but was wondering if there was a UK distributer for them. Prices seems to be $25 for Model A & $35 for Model B (Which i beleive has a RJ45 connection)

I plan to use it with a couple of TVs in the house to extend my Media coverage.

Just curious to know how your are powering the great big brick of an Old Xbox in your cars???

Hi t1x,

There being made by RS & Farnell.

Control would be easiest via touch screen.

And just for you info if you change your output on those boxes to NTSC you can then run at 1080i [;)]

Big difference m8, Obviously you will need a component out cable.

Thank Richard,

I have the component cable already but was using the amp to decode (totally pants!!!)

With give the switch over to NTSC a whirl!!!

This is turning into a well known forum dedicated to Audio Visual (which cannot be named)

Tiku

See if you can change it in XBMC settings to NTSC then up to 1080 if not you may have to use enigmah first to swap to NTSC then you can do the rest in XBMC.

Good luck.
