Meeting at JCT 600 Brooklands

As I mentioned at last night's meeting we have accepted an invite to hold a meeting at the Brooklands showroom. There are no definite plans yet for the meeting other than having a browse around the cars for sale, chatting to sales staff, looking at Porsche Selection goodies etc. It might be possible for some members cars to be checked over in the workshop subject to how busy they are. They have offered to put on some nibbles, coffee etc as well. We could probably organise a drive to coincide with the meeting either starting or finishing at the dealership. We now just have to tell them what day and date we would prefer.

My personal view is that weekday evenings wouldn't really be suitable as the dealership closes at 7.00 pm and we couldn't reasonably expect them to stay open especially for us given that we can't guarantee numbers or start / finish times. A weekend meet would therefore be preferable and I would favour Sunday over Saturday as the showroom is likely to be less busy and we have a better chance of getting more members to attend. However, this would prevent any inspections of members cars taking place as the rokshop would be closed.

In terms of dates, there has to be enough lead time to advertise the meeting in PP and it should be after the 997 launch so that hopefully there will be some 997s available for us to have a look around. I reckon late October / early November. This would give us and JCT plenty of time to make whatever arrangements are necessary but would not be too close to the Christmas period. It would also allow plenty of time for any orders of Porsche Selection goodies to be placed and delivered before Christmas.

If you have any views on dates, days or what you would like to do there (sensible suggestions, please!) could you let me or Chris Northern know by Friday 20th August. I will then take things forward with JCT.

I have confirmed the date for this visit as Sunday 7th November at 1.00 pm. JCT 600 have offered to put on snacks / nibbles and coffee. There will be the usual cars (not just Porsches) for sale to browse around and the new Porsche selection gifts will be available to order. There should also be some 997's in the showroom as well for those who can't make the launch weekend. I'll be enquiring whether 997 test drives would be possible for some of us in the afternoon.

We will be discussing the possibility of a drive beforehand and numbers attending at the next club night (6th October). If you're not going to the October club night could you confirm on this thread whether you're planning to go as JCT would like an idea of numbers for to accommodate parking and catering and parking.

I'd like to attend and will put the 7th Nov in my diary. I also hope to make the Oct meeting but that will depend on work commitments.

Thanks
Ian

If you plan to attend this event and weren't at last night's regional meeting could you confirm your attendance on this thread before Friday 22nd October, please, so that I can finalise numbers for JCT 600.

Thanks

Ian

Ian,
If anybody wants a vehicle check, they could join us at Sheffield the day before. All welcome, see the 'SHeffield OPC Service Clinic' thread on the forum.

Thought I'd responded, but can't see my post!

I've still got the 7th in my diary and plan to attend.

One day I'm sure I'll see you on the roads - we're only 10 minutes apart!

Regards
Ian

This meeting is definitely ON. Meet at 1.00 pm at the showroom. JCT are providing refreshments, probably in a private room. Have a look at the cars for sale, Porsche Selection merchandise and maybe have test drive in a 997. There's an outside chance that there'll be a new Boxster on the premises, but don't expect to be able to see it!
