Evening, I am organising a meeting of 3.2Carrera owners at JZ Machtech in Kings Langley this weekend, I have copied my lastest post to your register in case any of the speedster owners would like to attend, You are very welcome, as the most rare of 3.2 cars produced should be. Here goes.............
I hope everyone is enjoying there cars to the full and out of hibernation by now.
First a big thanks to everyone that has been in contact to say they will be attending.
We already have at least 25 members cars due to make an appearance which includes some very interesting examples.
We start at JZ at 10am and aim to finish about 2pm, Please don't arrive a JZ before 10am as they will need time to get ready for us.
Breakfast?
There is a Macdonalds (well that's nearly a breakfast) located on the A41 Dual Carriageway. The services are the only ones on this road and also have a hotel & petrol station. This is a nice stretch of road and a reasonable place for us to meet so I suggest we aim to get there for 9am and leave at 9.50 to arrive at JZ for about 10am. Just turn up if you want to.
Social: To me the primary function of the event should be to get the 3.2 register members together, there must be lots of useful info we can offer each other about different issues. I also hope to agree some future dates for meetings and find volunteers to help out at shows like the national event.
No doubt we will all come away knowing much more about the cars and each other. The JZMachtech team are laying on sandwiches and refreshments and for those of you that are familiar with JZM, this is a chance to see there new workshop which is located at the front of the development. They still retain the original workshop which means they now have much more capacity and therefore I guess shorter waiting lists.
Rolling road sessions: Running order will be arranged on a first come first served basis. We have a list of people that have indicated they want a test and everyone on the list should have time to be tested, if we start to run short of time we will prioritise based on who contacted me first prior to the event.
Each car will be tested in a closed garage so it won' t be intrusive for the rest of us. The cost will be £50+vat per car (£58.75) this is a big discount against the usual cost which I believe is close to £100.
Engine rebuild. Wayne Cook, has his car at JZ for a top end rebuild. The engine should be out of the car and in pieces so we can all have a good look at what actually is involved and see some old / new parts. A rare opportunity to see inside the flat 6 and have someone on hand to talk sense about what goes on in there.
Noise testing & Exhausts
We will have a great range of cars in attendance with a variety of exhausts including:
Hayward & Scott x 3 (inc one bespoke version)
Billy Boat Tri-flow
Dansk Twin outlet
SSI "" hopefully
I have managed to borrow a decibel meter so we can check out your cars to see how close they are to track day limits, better to do this now rather than getting turned away from some of the quieter venues.
Modified cars. Although the majority of cars will be standard Carreras we are also expecting:
Richard Pottle with his 993 powered car
Peter Bellamy who has a Billy Boat exhaust and a 964 bodykit.
Two cars fitted with induction kits and others that have been chipped, lowered etc last but certainly not least..... John Bellringer will be there with his SUPERCHARGED 3.2
Location. See the JZ website www.jzmachtech.com or use the online map services to find your way to WD4 8JE. If you want a map faxed then please call or email me with your fax number
Anyone who hasn't contacted me yet, but is interested in attending, should contact me preferrably by email or call me. Look forward to meeting you all.
I hope this is of interest to you and would love to see a speedster or two on the day.
Best Regards, Simon Davidson
