Megafactories Porsche 17th March 9pm

Next time, I'll post it up after the event so that I can be sure....[]

However, Yes Boxsters were made elsewhere prior to the down turn- however as far as I'm aware the Boxster, Cayman and 911 are all made on the same production line at this time.

So depends on if your glass is half empty or half full [;)]

Sorry Gary, don't know quite what you're getting at? I presumed Alan W was querying the assertion on the video on the link you posted that all Porsches since 1964 had been built at Stuttgart. But the video says every "911" not "every Porsche". I can't say with any degree of confidence if that is correct either but seems reasonable to me![;)]
I thought these days that Panamera and Cayenne are built in Leipzig and the rest in Stuttgart? Any road up, Sky+ set for Wed - in HD![8D]

I downloaded this video (from the Ultimate Factories series) some months ago but I can't for the life of me remember where I downloaded it from. In addition to the Porsche episode I also have the Ferrari and Lamborghini episodes. It's an incredible comparison with the Porsche operation oozing professional planning and the Ferrari operation decidely more haphazard with much more manual work. The Lamborghini operation even relies on sending bodyshells out to 3rd party suppliers for major work before returning to the factory for final build. A really good insight into how the factories operate - thoroughly recommended.

Regards

Dave

Is it me? Or do documentary makers these days think that the viewing audience can't retain information for more than 10 minutes so they have to keep repeating themselves! And as for all that high speed film stuff..... In amongst all the arty-farty stuff there was a really interesting programme trying to get out. Love the little robocarts![;)] Memo to self - must go to the factory - soon.

It seemded a bit like a GT3 advert....
I enjoyed it and amazing to see how much it had changed from when I even last went..

Alan, next year... new museum, factory, Castles and a certain toll road.....[;)]
