MegaSquirt on a Kjet 911

I've been mulling over the idea of installing MegaSquirt on my 911 Carrera 3.0. I wondered if anyone on here has experience of doing that on a kJet 911 (most likely to be an SC).

I've seen the installation manual and kit on Bitz Racing's site.

Has anyone got experience of installing this in a UK car? How did you get on, and what sort of power/economy gains did you get? I travel to the US regularly, so might pick up a kit when I'm there.

Or.... I know someone who builds MS kits over here, and could source most of the parts myself, from VW parts (Bosch Injectors, injector loom, FPR, etc.)

I was wondering what alternative sources of fuel rails and injector inserts there might be. Any ideas?

Number of reasons but one is the "mappability" of the electronics versus the rather crude K-jetronic.

I'd like to leave my c3 as it is but with a gas flowed blue printed engine.

Mike, John Glynn over on the forum at www.impactbumpers.com is planning something along those lines and has amassed LOADS of research into it.

Best is perhaps to sneak a peak at that forum and register your car as, by now, a thriving community of carrera 3.o owners is to be found amongst the "early carrera" subsection.

Finally, I don't know whether you are aware of Jack Wilson's wordwide Carrera 3.o register on www.911carrera3.co.uk.

Best regards

Bert

Looking at the testimonials page on the website you can see quotes like a 13% power increase, which must be worth having if you need more power?

Hello, excuse my niavety, but why do you want to do this ?

Fair question... the improved control of fuelling should give better power, better throttle response, improved economy, and longer engine life. KJet cars (whether VW's, Porsches, or others) tend to run lean at the top end of the rev range. You can adjust the warm up regulator to improve this, but it's a bit of a blunt instrument, and tends to increase the fuelling throughout the rev range.

In addition, proper control of the ignition advance curve can provide more power while tuning out pinking problems, and make the most of whatever fuel you're inclined to run.

That's the theory anyway... and according to what I've been told previously, there are good results to be had from a
KJet 911.

@ Bert. Thanks for the info. It was John Glynn who first suggested MS to me, related to a 911. I'm aiming to do an install on my Scirocco this summer, followed by a 911 job a bit later in the year.... probably over the winter months. I've rejoined Impact Bumpers and will catch up with him there.

Hello MikeH,

Are you coming to Husborne Crawley tomorrow? A few of us c3 owners will be there.

Best regards,

Bert

If I do, I won't have the 911 with me, as it's short of an MOT at the minute (just lack of time to sort it out). I've been before, a few years ago.

I might come and have a look to see if I can see suitable fuel rails and injectors - I'm guessing that some of the later cars might have the sensors and things I'd need for an MS conversion.
