RIDICULE: LANGUAGE OR BEHAVIOUR INTENDED TO HUMILIATE OR MOCK

BANTER :TO SPEAK OR TEASE LIGHTLY OR JOKINGLY

In response to Region 3 newsletter following the club night held on wednesday 12th october and after very careful consideration

"MUCH RIDICULE" really ?
Whilst I expected some friendly banter(I am as guilty as anybody) for turning up on the WOTY without my Porsche,I have been surprised and disappointed with what I have read since on the forum and content of the report written by Ash. I was unaware it had descended into RIDICULE.
I didnt think Porsche participation was mandatory on such an event.I am unaware of anybody being ridiculed for taking part in the "CAR CLUEDO" without the revered mark. However I would expect some reaction if I had turned up at Fastlane,Harewood,Croft Nostalgia or Raby in anything other than one of Stuttgarts finest.
The Club welcomes people who currently are not in the lucky and privileged position to own one of Ferdinands finest, are they to be "humiliated and mocked" too.
I will not justify nor do I regret attending the WOTY without the Porsche but I will think twice in the future if the attendance of my 911 is in any doubt ( I thought the club was about the people as well as the cars)
Now how do I get myself ,she who must be obeyed, English Bull Terrier, deckchairs and my bucket and spade into a 3.2 ready for the Beach Party.

I am so sorry this has offended you, It was just by the grace of god that we were not at the WOTY in the landrover. I am sure no-one meant offence, and didn't realise this would provoke such a reaction.

Of course the club is about the people not the just the cars and you and Mags would have been sorely missed if you had not attended.

Its members like you that make the club what it is, we are aiming for an all inclusive approach and whatever you turn up in you should feel made welcome.

Hope this clarifies what the club should be about, and that we continue to see you participating, whatever vehicle you are in!

Simon,

I've just seen this post and I'm mortified. These were my words so if I caused offence i apologise unreservedly. My intention was to add some levity in the newsletter, looks like i failed. You'll recall I actually commented on how good your car looked and as Graham asked you to be tail end Charlie in the convoy I drew the parallel with the top gear adventures. I've re read what I wrote and if I substituted ridicule for banter admittedly it would read better.

I think you know me well enough to know that mocking is not my style and in our region there is no elitism, that what makes us as good a crowd as what we are. I'll give you a bell to discuss but once again apologies if I caused offence
