Membership payment suggestion

Hi

Just a comment

I joined the club last year and have just heard of my renewal

When I joined I found it strange that the application form could not be emailed to me ( well it took 2 weeks after some duress from the sender) - who insisted on posting this to me

Furthermore payment was only by cheque and was to be returned by post

I didn't have a cheque book and had to have one ordered ( who writes cheques these days ) so suggested a Direct debit / Standing order system

I see nothing has changed this year

Is there a reason why this cannot be implemented ?

I have just renewed by DD and have done for several years so there is a system in place already it would appear! In fact on this page http://www.porscheclubgb.com/RenewMembership.aspx you can download a DD mandate form

Hello, I think you should have to understand that some people/companies are still not awake to the digital age and dragging their feet. The club even reimburses by cheque and I then have to take it to the bank what a pain! The club does have a DD renewal. Regards Bill Cayenne RS

So why did the chap at the club not tell me that and insist on payment by cheque ? strange Thanks for the link I will look into the DD

What this tells you is that the financial management of the club is years out of date and needs to be brought into the 21st century. The staff can only use the systems they have been given to work with. Why the finance director has not sorted this out years ago is difficult to understand. I am the treasurer for a church and took up the role 7 months ago. All bills are now paid by internet banking, receipts have to be provided, immediately after I make payment I send an email to confirm it, and after some initial scepticism, all involved are now very happy with how payment is made. There are no cheques to write (and get a countersignature for) no waiting for cheques to clear - it's all so easy. Why PCGB is so far behind the times I really fail to understand. It’s a question for the outgoing commercial director I guess. And no, sorry, I do not have the time to commit to PCGB to be the new commercial director and besides the rules (used to) say I have to have been an RO/RS first (what a stupid requirement, which prevented someone who potentially could do the job in their sleep from being considered). Rant over. D

Perhaps I need to improve my telephone skills.......
It would help if you fed this back to the office. I don't know who you spoke to (they might be a temp), but they certainly need to know they got something wrong so they can learn for next time.

Hello David
Please note the extract below is taken from 28(a) in the Articles of Association [:D]
"The requirement to have been either a Regional Organiser or Register Secretary for not less than 2 years or a Member for not less
than 3 years may be waived by the Board of Directors for the election of finance director who should be a qualified Accountant."

Harriet Thank you for highlighting this dispensation, however, unlike your goodself I don't happen have a copy of the club's AoA to hand, nor do I have the time or inclination to read them inside out. That said, it's certainly a logical step in the right direction. Now, and only because it has come up, I am not a "qualified accountant" in terms of being an ACA or ACCA but I have more than enough knowledge and experience to be able to draw up a set of accounts, make sure the balance sheet balances, and know what the auditor will require. Maybe the AoA should be changed to read "..... who has suitable expertise and practical experience", or some such? David * MBA, AMCT, ACIS, ACIB, CertRMP NB: * this list is not exhaustive, and is here only to make the point, otherwise it would be in my avatar! [;)][;)]

David If you would like a copy of the AoA, just send me an email as I do not have your email address to hand and I will forward this to you for a little "light reading". Harriet
