Memo to the Bored*

"As you'll quickly discover, the answer to humdrum motoring is not the high performance car.

The really effective remedy is something even more exciting, The Porsche performance car.

Here, after all, is a machine of a supercar status that actually makes sense in everyday use. It is a breed of car that excels whether purring down the high street or powering down the autobahn.

As a perfect example, consider the Porsche 944. In a major AA survey it emerged as the most desired car in Britain.

Its attractions include an extremely potent, high torque engine; computerised fuel injection; a race-proven Transaxle driveline; internally-ventilated disc brakes; driver-sensitive power steering; and for good measure, 2+2 accommodation for surprisingly generous proportions.

But it's what it does, not what it has, that creates the greatest impression of all.

This 2.5 litre 4-cylinder 944 will perform as smoothly as a 6-cylinder, handle as only a Weissach-developed car can, and whisk you from 0 to 60 in 7.2 seconds.

With huge reserves of power and road handling, it reacts instantly to every driver command.

Yet as a suitably impressed Autocar remarked, the 944 will return 27 mpg "even when driven hard."*

Specifics relating to my 944 for sale:

1986 Porsche 944 Coupé - 2.5 litre petrol - White exterior - Cream cloth interior - Manual transmission Right hand, rear wheel drive - 140,111 miles - Guide price at £3,737

Comprehensive engine overhaul performed in Summer 2013 including: new head gasket, head skimming, new engine nuts/bolts from Porsche, new Porsche power steering pump, ignition cables, distributor cap, rotor, timing belt, hoses, reconditioned fuel injectors, air filter, air filter housing, new thermostat, new Bosch battery, new thermofan switch and much more. Original parts from Porsche Hatfield (receipts available) - serviced using quality fluids as per Porsche guidelines. This work as all done at home spending hours doing the work slowly and methodically to ensure quality.

Interior electric adjuster on driver seat re-functioning/repaired, seats removed and shampooed, carpets shampooed, new Alpine stereo/CD changer and four speakers and dash removed to be cleaned/upgraded light bulbs.

Refurbished original Porsche alloys, entire vehicle resprayed and looks very clean and garaged. Overall the exterior is very clean.

Four months road tax and new MOT. File full of service history, numerous receipts showing work carried out, old MOTs, original Porsche file, magazine clippings, photos of work carried out and videos.

This is an easy to drive car which qualifies for classic car insurance costing around £170 per year, so it's economical to run. For the weekend mechanic with the right information, you can work on this car yourself reducing costs further. Fuel economy is good and it performs especially well on the open motorways - it's been driven to the coast and back for weekend trips. Starts every time and no issues. I can direct you how you can get up to speed to work on the car yourself, including very useful reliable online resources.

I'm reluctantly selling due to relocation abroad and would prefer to keep her until after her 30th birthday in 2016. This is a clean, honest and trustworthy example of a pre-classic for around £3,737.

Thanks for looking and give me a call for a chat about the 944.

Have a great day,
Vijay

This is a case of blatant advertising contrary to Forun rules

I'm confused, Geoff?

Porsche car for sale by a private individual in no way breaks any forum rules? Better in the for-sale area only, but we have always allowed local cars for sale to be in the region as well.

Edited to add, the seller did check with the RO and myself before posting. [:)]

At least it's not a sofa...[&:]

Which reminds me of one of my favorite ads.....

Being nit picky about the Advert, one can't sell a car with 4 months road tax now.

The vendor gets a rebate when the car is sold and the new owner must relicence the vehicle.

Classic.

I understand Geoffs original comments. When someones only post on a forum is an advert it makes me suspicious...no mater how valid the item for sale might be...and it was appropriate to raise the question.

It might have been better if the RO had posted the advert on the vendors behalf thus avoiding the question in the first place.

A very good point. I think we are all still trying to get our heads around this new system. I don't like it.

I agree whole heartedly with JS - no one should use this forum just to advertise their car (or sofa!) as their sole contribution to this forum.

I can understand the points that are being made about non members (or possibly members) posting adverts on Region pages and if there was a plethora of such adverts I would not want our Region page to be overrun by them.

However, currently there is much less traffic to the R21 page than I would like (despite repeated mentions in PP directing people to the Forum) so anything that draws more attention to it is, in my opinion, a good thing.

Especially if they are not a Club member. If the Club (us) is forking out £80K for the website, what contribution are the non members paying?

Why?

The chap had the decency to ask, he was given the green light, plus a club member might benefit or maybe even a non member will and then become a member after the purchase of his new Porsche.

It is a car forum! not a secret club, dear oh dear oh dear!!

I'm confused again!

What does a personal advert on the forum, a few hundred pounds a year to the Club, have to do with the website?

Porsche cars and parts are actively encouraged to be advertised here, and it's been agreed for ten years that non members are welcome to offer them for the members to benefit from. It's not an issue.
