Hi,

I took the drivers footrest out a while ago to clean it and now I've come to put it back in I can't remember how it fixes in ! [&:]

It looks like a bracket screws to the mounting lugs on the floor and then the footrest fixes to that with a couple of plastic plugs.

Only thing is that I can't find the bracket anywhere so I've either put it somewhere safe or it doesn't have a bracket and it fixes on some other way.

Help !

PS. Due to a change of job and a new baby and a total lack of time to play with it I'm thinking of selling for about £3.5k if anyone is interested. May 91 S2 with 87k miles, demo then previous owner for 18 years, serviced every year without fail with main dealer till 2006 then specialist for the rest (2 folders of history including bill of sale). Completely original and unmolested, drives superbly and everything works, just needs some paintwork and the wheels refurbed.

Hi Richard. ISTR there is a big metal screw with a big washer around it that fixes the metal foot rest to a bracket which I could have sworn came out of the trans tunnel rather then the floor but it doesn't matter. The plastic screws you refer to must be for the carpet piece that covers the footrest. I don't recall there being any removable bracket as the thing that the plate screws onto is welded onto the body. Something I do remember though is you have to tease the footrest plate forward a fair bit to get the bolt in.

Hi Neil,

Yes there are a couple of mounting points that come off the tunnel which have those spring clips on them that a self tapper screws into. it's the bit that you screw onto it that I'm missing.
Going by the imprint in the floor carpet as a guide there is too much of a gap between the footrest moulding (which has carpet on it) and the mounting point.
Perhaps I need to take some pictures...!

What is your S2 race car project by the way ? My 15 year old son has got his eye on racing my 964 when he is 16 but there is no way he would be able to handle it with only karting experience. On the other hand an S2 or 2.5 is much easier and I think he would cope with that.

Cheers
Richard
