Memory Seat problems

Hi all,

My first post here after being a long time Boxster person. Must remember to change my ID logo.

Ok, for reasons I won't bother you all with I had my leather sports seats from my Boxster re-covered (expensively) in Alcantara. I love them and took them out of my Box when I sold it.
Before any smarty pants asks where the new driver sat - I put leather ones back in!

So, I have my lovely C4S 997 which has memory seats. Chucked the passenger one out and replaced with very much lighter Box seat. Amazing difference in weight those motors make.
Works fine, heated and electric seat back adjustment ok. Manual back/forward and up/down so no issues there.

Drivers side a different story. I replaced the seat expecting it to be a dawdle - only takes about 15-20 minutes - and now the seat switch on the Box seat doesn't work. Put the computer box in. Still nothing.
I put the old seat back in on the basis it was the computer saying NO. Still no joy. So I'm kind of stuck because I moved the seat position so I could get the thing out. It's slightly more difficult when there's a roof in the way!.

Interestingly the only way I can get the seats to move is using the memory keys so I can at least get some sort of driving position.

Any help out there?

Andrew

Just been thinking - I will take out the newly installed passenger seat, drop in the drivers seat, set up a half decent driving position and that will do it. After all, once the backrest is in the right place everything else is manual. Duh!

Then I will figure out what I have to do to hook up the proper system!

I've not come across many- if any owners that have done the seat change, so sadly no idea from me..

Me neither. Sounds like making a rod for your own back to me.......[&:] Maybe a call to your PC may shed some light on things?

Hah! my bright idea didn't work. The seat electric plugs are handed, so the drivers doesn't fit the passengers.

I tried fitting the replacement seat again just in case I had missed something - no luck.
However, I must have reset the computer so when I reinstalled the original seat all the functions are back to normal.

Have to get my thinking cap on again.
Since all I have to do is get the backrest in the right position it shouldn't be that difficult to work out the wiring.

FYI the reason for the seemingly odd and unnecessarily complex messing about is that I am seriously allergic to the black leather seats.
I only found this out after months of suffering at the hands of my last Boxster. Strangely my first boxster had tan seats and I had no problem with them.

And here's a photo of the lady in question.
Hopefully the attachment worked-didn't on the preview.
