Mice and wet front carpets?

Hi All.

Well as you can gather, I have had an attack by mice!

I thought all was well as the car looks to be fine after I hoovered out the inside.

But. I now have wet front carpets.

I think they had got in via the bulk head. No interior damage.

I have lifted up the cover of the pollen filter and can see activity. Should the pollen filter have a fibre cover?

If so, it looks as though they have eaten that!.

So, anything obvious I should look for?

I will take some photos and clean up for now and try and get the inside dry!!

Any help, greatly received ..

No, the pollen filter doesn't have a fibre cover. While you have the plastic covers off, it is worth carefully clearing out the front drains either side of the battery:

Suggest you get a cat seriously had a mice problem in london rodentkill man said poison just moves them to next house for a while Suggested a cat as mice smell them and stay away worked Doesnt help current problem but prevents future reoccurence

Or get one of these for £16. Never fails http://www.diy.com/departments/diall-mouse-rat-control/182153_BQ.prd?gclid=CjwKEAjw3YipBRDL2bHhjLmFkQsSJADtzktjx7a4dvv1jQ4EG_5sriOgjcmELMI8zl-IKyPOaqIVZxoCCmHw_wcB&ecamp=SEAPLA182153_BQ&ef_id=U2JXhQAABXzSHu9t:20150406160228:s

Thanks Richard and all. So the fibre bit has been eaten away so will replace that and fit a new filter as that was full of sh1t and stuff. I assume water can get through this area withour the fibre part of the filter box being in place so fingers crossed. drain holes all clear. actually that may have been the point of entry. ?? Can't see any other ares showing signs so maybe this fibre cover is critical to keeping water out? any further ideas?

Must be more to this thread Where has the car been - stored? Why have you got wet carpets? All intriguing. I'd be worried about the electrics myself - if those little blisters have been chewing away at cables!!! 😳

I hope it is this simple. The car was in the garage at home and all was dry when I 1st got it out. However, carpets got wet after a drive in the rain... So investigated a bi further and hence found the pollen filter debris...and mice evidence....

All fixed. New pollen filter housing and pollen filter.

Detail inspection shows no damage to anything else. think myself lucky.

lots of rat /mice poison now in and around garage..

Have you checked the drains are not blocked both front and rear. Should be an annual inspection to prevent wet carpet syndrome. As there are electrics under the seat that do not like the damp!. Just run gentle water over the back screen / hood and then front area it should be seen running out at the two front points and at the front of the rear arches (if you know this apologies) Ian
