Michelin Tyres

May be of interest to someone, received details of a promo' offer on Michelin tyres at Costco, runs from 19/01/07 to 18/02/07, buy four tyres and get 20% discount. After the bride did a bit of research;
Pilot sport N1 225/40/18 £131.35, 285/30/18 £223.12, so with the 20% off a full set would be £567.15, inclusive of VAT, fitting, valves, balancing etc. If anyone can find 'em cheaper, let me know!

it cost me £260 fitted for a set of Pilot Sport rears for my C2 (
255/40 ZR17) from my local garage (Hi-Q)

However they only lasted 4000 miles - and that's no track days or fun trips on Welsh mountain roads

I don't know which Pilot Sports, they were N-spec but I didn't look any further. My previous bridgestones had lasted at least 15,000. The front tyres are bridgestone S-02A N3s.

Oddly the front tyres have outlasted the rears plus the rear pilot sports, and still have 4mm on them. My old 3.2 had been lowered and even though I had it realigned it would wear the inside rim of each tyre far more than the centre/outside.

I don't know what the alignment is. it's a C2 with an RS bodykit, though I doubt that changes much. I haven't monkeyed around with it, nor had the previous owner. Before that is anyone's guess. I would get it checked at the next service but the bill is already mounting up (power steering problem, passenger door mechanism jammed, horn needs adjusting as it's so sensitive it goes off if I brake hard, passenger air bag rattling around)
