Mick's 993 RS magic roundabout at SPA

Thankfully fortunate in the outcome :)....I did like the comment about well caught, looks like you had it well under control? [;)]
Bedford is the place to find the limits......sounds like quite a few were less fortunate at Spa in the last few weeks.

Mick has already become a driving god on the 911uk forum for his amazing 'catch'.

I have my doubts though....you can't scream that highly and turn the steering wheel in so many different directions and be in control[;)][;)][;)]

I hear Recaros now come in a nice brown shade....boy that was lucky Mick...you were nearly joining me at Chris's[]

tell you what you ain't wrong mate, a complete donkey of a line into the corner but the reactions in the afters was very impressive

I tell you, the only thing I was catching at the time comes in a shade of brown! (and Jason, the seats are leather, and therefore wipe clean!)
More luck than skill that I didn't end up parking next to the F430 and the AM!! Could've been coming home in a flatbed!
I wasn't looking for the limit at all, it found me! Just screwed up the line big time!

Mick, it is unlikely you will forget this and will improve your driving going forward...I had a huge spin at bedford a few years ago, following a very well driven 93RS on sticky tyres, I was getting tired and hot wondering whether to come in.....momentarily lapse of concentration...instant spin (flat in 4th, eased off!!!)......thankfully like you, no damage....lesson learnt...just looks like over enthusiam at a new unfamilaiar track and forgetting there is a brake pedal to balance the car....easy to say sitting here [;)]

Mick, been there done that and at Spa too.....got the gravel from the trap at Pohoun to prove it ( this was in 2005 ). All happens v. quickly at Spa and certainly indelibly imprints into your mind. Went back in 2006, got a lot of decent tuition from Calum Lockie and went really well for it. Your car looks great in the photos.....

cheers

Problem here was early turn in on a trailing throtte. Narrow escape

911s like to be "throttled" in Blanchimont...

Thanks Phil. What the instructor said to me the following day was to take B1 flat out, lift/slight brake before turn in at B2, didn't say anything regarding the power, I assume you start to feed the power in as soon as you've turned in?

Yes, B1 flat out, at the centre of the road, not cutting it because it can compromises entry into B2.
Then slight lift/brake, decisive turn in with power on very early to set the car on a balanced exit... If not enough power following "decisive turn in", decisive spin is likely... [;)]

Still, your spin is suprising. Were you driving with full hard roll bars at the back?

Full stiff at the back, one off from full stiff at the front.

It was in the short dry spell in the first day.

The tyres looked ok at the time, plenty of tread in the front, ok in the rear except @ inner edge where there's only a couple of mm left. Thought they'd be ok for the trip but again, I think the age of the rubber was not helping. I have no idea how old they are, judging from the millage done in the past 8 yrs, must be quite a few yrs old!

I think I'll stick to Toyo R888 from now, at least they'll wear out before they get too old!
