mikeh RIP

A real Shame no doubt all 968 and prospective 968 owners could have benefitted from the rectification of any problems with his car which would no doubt have appeared here with pictures and could have saved others potential future expense - hope they are not too serious or expensive to sort.

I think he'll be happier on Renn and 968uk where the atmosphere is a little better [;)]

Anyway I must get on, I only said I'd see what was happening for Mike and I'm becoming addicted to the hysterical arguments, shame I only drive an old Escort else I could have some fun here.

Take care people, I've just emailled him a copy of this thread I'm sure it'll raise a smile. I've been hassling him to rejoin under a new name but he won't do it [:(]

Could someone be so kind as to explain this thread to me. I have been away on holiday for a few days, so I'm a little out of touch

Thanks

The Stigg
Did you get Top Gears permission to use that name ? We have our own Stigg in Scotland he had to change his name to The Griff he drives a 2004 GT3 RS white/blue . Hope you get a real car soon and join in all the club has to offer Cheers Brian RO1

I've has a look at the thread on rennlist about Mike's engine problems, and it makes rather depressing reading. I know I should be able to afford to buy a Porsche in the £10K or thereabouts range - but sometimes the chances of buying a reliable one that doesn't cost a fortune to run seem remote. And Mike seems to know something about cars as well, which I don't. Is there a way into Porsche ownership without letting myself in for a succession of big garage bills?

John H,

Check over on Porsche968UK site to get an update.

Having just skimmed through the other thread about the deletion of MikeH's post and subscription really makes sad reading.

[] I am tempted to make a swingeing response to this, but I doubt it would make much odds. It is depressing though to go away for a few days holiday, and come back to yet more of this sort of petty politics.

Note to Admin ... Given that I am the moderator of this forum, would it not seem common courtesy to have let me know independently if things are going to be deleted off this forum in my absence? [:'(]

Unfortunately the Admin team (and I know for a fact that 3 individuals have deleted posts entirely in the last 2 days, so it is not just one of them).

The very fact I had to re edit my post to put that back in demonstrates as much.

I'll stop making these comments when there is no longer any need to. Currently the Admin team refuse to anser to my direct requests for explanation. Club officials are answerable to the members, don't forget.

...don't know about anybody else, but I can feel that the AGM this year is going to be a repeat perforance of the farce we all endured back in 2002!!!!!

the members, don't forget.

Sorry Guys, I've been off the forum for a few days - work and all that - but now having picked up on the apparent ejection of mikeh, am I right in concluding that Admin can edit anyones posting, to say pretty well anything, without consulting the originating poster?

Returning to the departure of mikeh. As a recent convert to Porsche ownership, a man of some considerable experience in forum hosting himself, an enthusiastic & intelligent poster and on the cusp of PCGB membership, why on earth has he completely vanished?

It is people like mikeh that bring this forum to life. His departure will do more damage in removing the oxygen that the forum requires to breath than any derisary quip.

Well said Mr Sims.

Indeed it is easy to follow MikeH's progress as he has become a regular poster on 986UK and Rennlist. Not only is he adept with a set of spanners, but he is photo-documenting the work he is doing and generously posting it. I have little doubt that had the attitude here been more welcoming and less officious, he would have stumped up his £50, joined the club, and been a considerable asset to other 968 owners.

The phrase "Pyrrhic Victory" springs to mind.

Questions for the AGM must be tabled by March 5th in order that the Board are able to give a considered response.
