My Dad has owned an '89 944 Turbo for a few years now (formerly a PCGB member's car judging by the sticker in the windscreen). It came with 18" Sport Design wheels and he drove it about on and off over the years, fixing stuff as it broke and changing oil etc.
Last year the car had been sitting for a while and a few jobs had been piling up so I started helping out with it to get it back to how it should be - the paint was looking tired, numerous interior parts had broken, it needed a belts service and the ride quality was appalling on the 18" wheels.
We started by putting it through an MOT (passed no advisories) and the underside is solid so we set about replacing/repairing:
Broken centre console lid
Broken visor clips
Sagging headlining near boot
Damn good interior clean
Then put it in to JMG for belts change, gave it a full fluids/plug change and got a new exhaust tip attached as the old one rusted off. Finally binned the old 18" wheels and got a set of D90s in lovely condition from a member on here, got the wheel alignment done so the wheels point in the same direction, then clay/machine polish/wax and here is the result:
It has a few jobs outstanding (as always) but we are getting there I think. It drives brilliantly after the service/wheel work.
