I am thinking ( stress thinking ) of driving down to this next year. Has anyone been, either flying or driving?

Any comments ( printable only please ) or advice welcomed.

I was sitting outside a cafe in the central square in Sienna as the cars came in, and circled the square before parking, in about 1985! This was an unbelievable spectacle with the sounds of the cars echoing off the old stone buildings and, of course being Italy, a complete absence of police or marshalling apparent! Not to be missed if you get the chance to go GO!!

Hope you saw the James Martin programme over xmas, I thought it was excellent. I would love to arrange a family holiday linked to the Mille Miglia, have you found any useful details such as dates etc?

Saw programme - if he had kept his revs down to the limit his engine builder specified he might have been okay. Who takes a car fresh from engine rebuild on an event like this without bedding it in properly ? Must be nice to have that sort of disposable income but he has worked hard for it.

9- 15 May this year. Have booked hotel room in Brescia already in case I finally pluck up courage to do this - can cancel up to 1600 on day of arrival so no risk - the drive down appeals almost as much as the event and am looking at appropriate stopping places to allow for "interesting " drives ( Stelvio pass ? ) on the way.

May come to nothing will depend on how work commitments pan out - incidentally where are you based? I'm nr. Wakefield.

Hi Andrew

I live in Epworth so I'm a borderline Yorks/Lincs member but I work at Knottingley near you.

Thanks for the date etc, I fully agree ref running in a historic Massa! Hope you get to go down but I can't see me fitting all the family in my 964RS but I would to get there one year!

Regards

Ian
