Minor bodywork repairs

Guest

New member
Hi,

I have some minor 'car park' scratches (the bleeder drove off & no note however!) on my rear offside bumber & wing, and the usual stone chips/minor parking scratches on the front bumper/bonnet.

The car (Basalt Black 996 C4S) is now just over 18 months old and I plan to keep it for at least another 18... does anyone have any recommendations on good body shops (or companies like chips-away - although I guess this would affect the warranty?) - I live in Windsor... Also, any of them give discounts for PCGB members (I am one, even though it does'nt show here, honest!)[;)]

Thanks,

Justin

A close friend recommends Chips Away. I have seen the fantastic job they did on his Mercedes - similar damage to yours plus a few extra scratches - for a shade under £300.

I live just across the M4 from you so I shall be following this thread with interest to see who you end up using!

I can also vouch that Chips Away do a good job - I had a 7 y'old BMW that needed some scuffs on the plastic bumper done and the colour match was brilliant - its a franchise so I guess you could get a variety of quality but everyone I know who's used them has been satisfied - I just reached for yellow pages.

I will continue to wage my own personal war against Chips Away as it appears there are good and bad franchisee's, make sure you get personal reccomendations for the actual person that will be doing your car - not just the local 'branch' as sometimes there is more than one operative i.e. in Milton Keynes

see my post http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=60013 for more details of my experience earlier this year..

I am sure Graham is right - it all depends on the man in the van. My friend's Merc was done by Steve Field, 07860 350150.
