Minor dent - OPC or Chips Away

Had a stone hit my bonnet yesterday and put a shallow dent in it about the size of a 10p coin. No paint work damage.

Do I go to OPC Guildford or get somebody from "Chips Away". Can anyone recommend a somebody from Chips Away or similar in the Camberley Surrey area?

And Sunday I was counting myself lucky when I managed to avoid a chicken that an oncoming Audi TT had launched about 20ft into the air into my path. I had visions of the Boxster picture on another thread ('Bird Strike').

Anyway, any guidance on repairing this minor dent would be appreciated.

Keep in mind Chips Away don't do dents and they will sub-contract it; get a quote from the OPC since the back panel (under the bonnet) is easily accessible it will not cost you a lot...

Also just FYI, as far as I know OPC Cambridge is the only OPC with an official Porsche bodyshop on their forecourt everyone else again sub-contract it or use a prefered fix bodyshop who are then classified as their official Porsche bodyshops...

I understand also that Chips don't do paintless dent removal. Don't forget that official Porsche repair is guaranteed for life but will cost more. You get what you pay for (well almost, I can't refrain from mentioning.TMC).

When I picked up my previous car from the OPC(sutton Coldfield), it had a dent on the rear wheel arch (noticed it in the showroom luckily).
They actually booked a dent removal guy to come out and repair it the next day [&:]
He did a fantastic job and I could even see a trace of the dent [:)]

We use a fantastic company called Ace Dent and they have removed mini dents to absolutely monster sized ones. Its fascinating to watch them at work and also the speed with which they can be removed. As an example Merc SL had 3 dents in bootlid and one in door all removed in under 15 minutes. MINI very small dent in bonnet and boot lid removed in under 4 minutes!

Unfortunately Ace are strictly trade only so I would suggest googling for a local PDR outfit there are many out there and costs are very user friendly [;)]

Reading managed to dent one of my quarter panels while the car was in for work but their contractor on site was able to take it out very quickly - they have so many of these type of repairs to do the guy is on site most of the time. I think he is based towards London - have a mobile number if interested.

The guys are right, we at ChipsAway don't do paintless dent removal. Check your Yellow Pages for a local Dent-Devils franchisee, it's possibly who the OPC will call in if you take it to them anyway.

Hi, assuming you're local to Guildford, then this is the man, Steve Elliot. He's brilliant, freelance, and does loads of work for Porsche Guildford anyway. Have known him for years, and his work is tops.
Call him on 07767 252771.

Peter

Steve Elliot has just been - the dent was in an awkward position near the edge of the bonnet under the double skin. As a result it took Steve almost 20 minutes to remove the dent.

A quick polish and now I can't see where the dent was. It was interesting watching a craftsman at work and far more friendly on the wallet than a visit to OPC would have been.

I'd certainly recommend him to others.
