Mint Burgundy Door Cards and Very Nice JBL 6x4's

Ok long story short but acquired a very near mint set of burgundy door cards to replace my ones that have holes for 6 inch speakers cut. Well it turns out the metal is also cut away for 2 holes of the original 6x4 speaker mounting place. I have also acquired a nice set of 120W JBL 6x4's and matching speaker seals with the intention of re-factoryising my door set-up. However after some exploratory work tonight there is just no way of getting everything mounted right (well easily anyway and without a welder) with the bastardisation that has occurred inside my door frames by the bright spark who decided 6 inch round speakers were the way ahead many years ago!

I will pop them in for sale but realise that I probably have a very small market here. Anyway looking for £100 plus postage for the stunningly good door cards. They comer with inner handles, door bins and speaker grills and look to have never ever been fitted to a car such is their perfectness!!

Also open to offers for the JBL's, a very good upgrade for the standard speaker locations. These retail at around £70 but around half of that would secure them.

Let me know if any interest.

Cheers

these would not be difficult to fit, I had a similar problem make some pods out of cardboard and masking tape the fibreglass them

better sound, waterproof and cheap[:)]

Thanks Ken. Definitely an option. Quick question, do the holes in the grills match the holes in the speakers or do the speakers secure to door frame and then grills to speakers? I could not get that worked out as no 2 pairs of holes seemed to match. Also there seems nowhere on the JBL's to fasten the grills if that is the correct procedure? May help to see inside someones unmolested door!

At a guess the speakers screw to the doors then grille's screw on afterwards, do you have the 2 part grilles?
If so you need the little spacers between the doorcard and the grille back

I think they are one piece? Kind of felt on the inside, only got one piece for each side, no spacers. What is the difference between the one piece and 2 piece grilles?

Aha I see. Defo 1 piece I have. Must be off an older car. Still puzzled how they attach to the speakers.

So if you had original speakers and grilles then the rubber water protector fits ito the door then a gasket, then you would fit the door card, followed by the speaker and the grille, the screw would go though the grille then the speaker into a speed not on the door panel
(I think this is correct[8|])

because you have Non standard speakers and a 6" hole in the door panel this is not going to work so I would ....
make a fibreglass part that fits around the speaker but has a flange big enough to cover the hole that has been cut into the door panel, mark the fixing points for the speaker and grille they can be different you can then add speed nuts or glass in some nuts so you have a decent fixing for both

I had a similar problem I'll put some pictures up shortly[:)]

so you would make center section to fit the speaker you have
