Mirror Folding Lever Spring

I picked up a 997 at the weekend and when I put it in the garage I folded the mirrors in and discovered that one side has a 'cancel' spring on the little lever that keeps the mirrors folded, but the other side does not.

I have had a look in the parts catalogue, but I could not see it listed as a separate item.

Has anyone had to replace this and if yes where did you source one?

Hello Alex! You're still with us then?![:)] Haven't need one of those but have you tried giving parts at PC Exeter a call. If it can be got, they will get it!

Hi Alan - yes still here lurking in the background, looks like you are accruing a nice little collection [;)]

I'll be giving Exeter a call (I have a short list of odd missing fasteners to get from them), just thought I'd ask here first on the off-chance someone knows of an alternative source...I have a feeling the OPC may not be able to help on this one.

But no matter, if it comes to it I'll make/adapt something. Albeit I've never made a spring before (lost a few admittedly), how hard can it be...

You should bring the 997 along to an event soon!

On the collection front there's another arriving next weekend....... [;)]

Sounds like I need to swing by your 'SW Porsche Museum' some time!

Keep meaning to get out to an event again, but the demand on my time that resulted in me stepping down a few years ago are all still there! Would be good to catch up with everyone though [:)]

All you need now is a garage block
bi fold glass doors and carpet on the floor
what more can a man want??

I assumed he had already moved into an old railway depot or similar!

Just in case anyone ever unearths this...the fix turned out to be embarrassingly straight forward.

After looking at the 'working' mirror to try and establish what part I needed it became very apparent that the likelihood of the spring actually departing was very slim, so armed with a bright torch I could then see that the end of the spring had come dislodged from the lever and had spun round into the back of the casing, a little bit of fiddling with a hooked probe and it was back in place and now working as normal.
