Mirror glass

Hi, my drivers side door mirror glass has discoloured at the bottom, I think it is an auto dimming one with the blind spot divider at the side of it (Aspheric) I,ve been quoted £380. Is there a cheaper way to replace this, I suppose I could put a non dimming one in but would really like to keep things standard. There seems to be loads on eBay, but what about the quality and fitting, wouldn't really like the cheap stick on ones. Any advise would be appreciated, thanks Tony

If you've got auto-dimming, you'll have two little white sensors in the bottom of the interior mirror. That, and you'll tell with the extra wiring in the mirror housing when you pop the broken glass off.
I actually got a replacement O/S mirror off ebay a couple of years ago, and as long as the item shows a picture of what you're buying (and usually it'll say 'Genuine' which sellers aren't allowed to do if its not) then you'll be fine.
Replacement is straightforward, as you just need to pop the old mirror off by hooking something between the edge of the housing and the back of the glass, and gently pulling it towards you. (Tip - adjust the mirror so the outside edge is further out) Just remember that there will be either two (Heated only) or four (Heated and dimming) wires on the back on push-fit connectors, so
A) Be sure you don't pull and break / stress them, and
B) Note which order they come off in so you refit to the new mirror correctly.
