Mirrors

Due to friendly neighbourhood drunkards, i have had to replace my drivers door mirror which was nicely kicked off.

Problem is the new mirror has 7 wires and my car has 5, anybody know why?

Secondly the new mirror has a slightly different base shape, maybe is a 911 mirror not a 944 mirror.

Finally the nut situated in the door has shredded its thread, does anybody know where to get a new one and how to replace it?

Thanks in advance

Marcus

Hi Marcus

I had a similar problem when I first had my S2 and it sounds to me like the new mirror is for an S2, not your car. I would recommend that you speak to a specialist Porsche breakers such as Porsch-Apart in Bury, who have helped me a great deal over the last year, I have bought a cigarette lighter, a complete mirror and recently a new engine!!!. They will be able to let you have whatever you need.

Their number is 01706 824053 and they will post whatever you need to you.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the info Phil. I have bought lots of parts from Porsche-Apart before whn i had my 924 there really good. I got this new mirror from Lodge Sports so i might give them a call to see what the difference is.

Regards

Marcus

A 944 mirror is a 944 mirror as far as the base is concerned. The 924 would be the same too for that matter.

The ' elephant ear' mirrors that were standard on the 944 were also standard on the 911 and 928 of the period so it' s probably from one of them.

The bases are interchangeable if the original one is still good.
