misfire on lower revs

Hi Chaps

I've noticed that my 1977 2.7 has problems running at lower revs and tends to misfire and hesitate when gently touching the throttle especially round town which makes driving it an absolute chore. As soon as the revs go above 2500 it runs like a dream ie on motorways etc. Also tend to notice it more once the engine is nice and hot. Car always starts on the button either hot or cold without any problems. I know the leads were changed about 5 years ago but its only done about 4000 miles in that time.

Any suggestions what the problem could be.

Hi i have a 1977 2.7 and all the fuel system has been rebuilt due to the common fault of air box detonation! 2.7 do take a bit to set up correctly, i also had the same problem as you once my car was rebuilt. Check for air leaks round the back of the Fuel metering unit and also around the airbox, any slight air leak will cause thecar to do this at low revs.

Sounds like that could be an ignition fault, check your plugs, plug leads, plug caps, coil connection, dizzy cap condition and lubricate the bob weights too. After doing all that suspect a mixture issue.
