Recently, and only occasionally, my 2010 PTT would run rough and log a misfire on cylinder 3 or 7.
Usually an intermittent code, and only when heat soaked. (Standing traffic).
So, suspecting a coil pack, I decided to replace all 8 and the spark plugs whilst I was in there. At 91k the plugs have been done in the last two years (at a main dealer service) and the cam bolt recall 9 months ago entails removing them as well I believe.
It’s a Fairly easy job with a good socket set.
You need 8 new aluminium coil pack bolts (one time use only) from the dealer. Plugs are FR6NPP332 by Bosch,
Coil packs are made by Beru - ZSE 042 or get them in a white box from your dealer.
Car runs beautifully now. Idle much smoother.
What did I discover? Two cracked coils packs. (The suspect cylinders). Four different variants of coil pack fitted (they are version numbered. The oldest two were the cracked ones).
All the spark plugs were in good condition, the ones with the cracked coils slightly blueish. 7 spark plugs were the same. One (cylinder 8 - the most awkward to get to) was obviously older and had a different date stamp. Did they change it at the Porsche centre? Who knows.
Note to self - always ask for the old parts back...
