Miss-fire/Hesitation

Just got back from a great trip to Le Mans with PCGB.

Car ran beutifully to Dover but once on the other side decided it was going to throw a paddy. Performance felt flat and very noticeable hesitation (miss-fire?) on a constant throttle. Same on the way back.

Ah well - going to check for air leaks, cracked distributor cap, poor ignition leads (though these, cap and roror arm all replaced together about 12 months ago, circa 3000 miles). Could also be an injector problem. Ideally I need to get it on a gas analyser to see how it's running but don't have a friendly mechanic near me. Might try an MOT station - just need the results.

Any suggestions from the collective as to other items that I can perform a DIY check on? Already busily searching on Pelican, etc.

Must be the air in France then?....

I had a similar problem just after my service last year, turn out that one of my leads just broke down, replace the lot, works like a dream

Sorry can't help you there, I just took it back to my local independant who did.

I would imagine you need some form of electrical equipment/gauge to measure output from each lead - try Halfords see if they have such a device.

Hi Chris

Try the coil. My car had this problem some 12 years ago, have not had any further problems since ( with the car !!!!!!!!)

Have fun

Thanks for your posts guys.

I have an electrical tester and a copy of Bentley so I guess I'll be spending a few hours doing some basic checks before I leap to spending any £££.
