Missing Bits

I've just become the owner of a 993C2S, the car is just about perfect except for a couple of very minor niggles, the securing ring is missing from the alarm LED on the centre console and the spacer that keeps the two windscreen wiper blades apart is missing. I've been unable to source these two items from the usual places, can anybody help?

spacer? - that holds the wiper blades apart?

It's not listed in the PET, but my independent specialist mentioned it as something that all 993s left the factory with, but few now have. He described it as a "wind deflector." I may phone my local OPC to see what response the above part number brings.

Let us know how you get on. I never noticed that an OPC discarded mine a while ago when they replaced the blades. The wipers still work OK without it but it must have been there for a reason. Not sure how it would have worked as a wind deflector though, I always assumed it stopped the two blades from tripping up over each other.

It's not a wind deflector. It's a rubber bumper that stops the two wiper blades making a noise when they hit each other. You will notice they are in contact in the parked position.

Here's a pic of the parked wiper blades:

I think I could find you an LED clip. [:)] What do you think they are worth....

Switch the blades to park the other side and you get two benefits - no blade contact and a beautifully clear view ahead, including that lovely curved right front.
Win-win.

JZ Machtech will sell you the rubber thingy for the windscreen wiper

There is something nice knowing that all the bits that should be, are, on your car...

P.S. I lost the rear undertray from my 95 cab at some point (maybe it wasn't there when I bought it) anyone got a spare?

Bob, I've found an LED clip, but thanks for the offer and for the pic of the wiper blades, much better than trying to describe it.

Unfortunately I can't bear things not working properly or having bits missing, however insignificant they might be.

Off to JZM to get a rubber thingy now (I'm sure there's a word for people like me!).
