Missing engine tray. Question?

Hi. My project car doesn't have a under engine ali tray.
Question is do all trays fit all models?
Mines a 1986 lux but with S2 engine/gearbox/front end conversion.
Thanks chaps.

Hiya,
I think all the normally aspirated cars just had one undertray, and the turbos also has a further tray fitted to the rear of the main one. Looking at the parts catalogue (https://www.porsche.com/uk/accessoriesandservice/classic/genuineparts/originalpartscatalogue/) it looks like the S2 and lux used the same front tray, and if I remember right it attaches along its front edge to the "batwing" plastic part that forms the base of the S2 front end. It's made of plastic or fibre/resin or something, not metal.

Thanks buddy.
Just waiting for one to come on ebay now that isn't 5hr drive away!
Thanks again. Karl.

Some of the aftermarket splitters incorporate an undertray, around £150 on the bay of fleas.

There is of course one small downside to fitting the under tray - the instructions for just about every job you need to do begins with the phrase - "raise the car on axle stands and remove the under tray" [:)]
