Missing vacuum hose.

Hi folks. I have discovered a bare nipple [:-] on my car, under the inlet manifold. I presume there should be a vacuum hose attached. My question is, where should it go?
In case the picture isnt very clear, there is a black thing (please forgive my ignorance) with 2 outlets. One has a pipe connected which runs to the turbo, connecting out of sight beneath the intercooler pipe. The other outlet is not connected to anything.
Can anyone help, and for future reference, what is the black thing?

alternatively, is there a link on the net to the fitting diagram that comes with the Promax vacuum kit? (I have lost my diagram!) On closer inspection, my lines appear to have been rerouted incorrectly at some point so I am going to have to start from scratch.

ignore the above, I have found a diagram on the net. Unfortunately all it shows me is that my pipes are all wrong [:mad:]. This is going to be a nightmare.
 
The other option, which I did to start with, is replace the black rubber ends with the new vacuum hose this should stop the leaks and is easier to get neat and tidy.

Hi Steve, Sorry I haven't replied earlier with your cry for help. I'm away from my Turbo at the moment and can't have a look for you, but purely from memory I believe I have a tiny orange vacuum line plugged into that port and it is the one that leads to the KLR computer under the glovebox.

I feel sure I must be wrong as I'm sure your car would be very poorly without any line connected to the KLR. I'll have a proper look tomorrow and post again tomorrow night. Can anyone else have a look at their lines for Steve? It's the one immediately under the last intake, right at the back of the engine, behind the cycling valve which I believe can be seen with the red and blue wire on Steves second pic above
 
Not sure where it goes, but pretty sure the KLR line comes off the connection on the manifold. In the second picture the bolt with 2 banjo fittings on the left the second one nearest the manifold.

Thanks for your help guys. I am starting to get a clearer picture. Particularly now that I know where to look for the KLR! I realize it is almost impossible to do something like this over the net but it all helps.
Paul - if you do get a chance to see where the little bugger goes I would be very grateful.

Hi Steve,

From the banjo bolt on the left of the picture, one line should lead to the KLR, the other should lead into a fairly complex line that attatches to the FVPS.

Thanks for that Nigel. The line from the manifold to the KLR is correct on mine. One down, lots to go!
I think the best thing to do may be to wait until the Jamsport rolling road day and try to compare mine to another turbo, preferably one like mine, without the FVPS.

Ok, finally got the Turbo off of Mrs Diver so I could have a look [:D]

Mine has a small red rubber blanking plug on that nipple .

Purely a guess but as mine doesn't have the FVPS I reckon it's supposed to be blanked off. You could try sticking your finger over your nipple [:)] when the car is idling and see if you get sucked into it [:D]

You could try to make a blank with some left over blue vacuum hose, or challenge you local OPC to find a part number for the official red one - if they are like my OPC they will fail [;)]
 
Excellent. Thanks Paul. I did try blanking it off yesterday with a bit of pipe with a bolt in the end. It didnt make any noticeable difference so I took it off. Now I know it should be blanked I will put it back on. I might try the finger on the nipple trick just out of interest.

On a side issue does anyone know how the FVPS (Fuel Vapour Purge System) works?
And does it cost me any power [:)] is it some american emmisions thingy?
