Mission Ignition tomorrow night CH4 8.30 PM

I'll be watching. A 944 cabriolet v a Lotus Elan. Not sure I can bear to watch a 944 in such a state of undress though!

Bumper hanging off when they had finished it, I would need to give that car a good going over before driving it, noticed the contestants were given coveralls covered in zips.........Nooooo:rolleyes:

I noticed that too Jim...I wonder where they get the cars from and was it a turbo or S2...I query this as they test drove a turbo yet during the rebuild described the engine as 3 ltr? I wouldn't drive any car that's just been thrown together aad do wonder how much damage was done to both during this crazy exercise?...I won't be watching any other episodes...it's like a show on 'cruelty to cars'....lol

Pete

I wouldn't fancy driving one either.
It was an S2 Pete, the one they drove was a turbo. It was a white cab & available on the day of filming. There was a lot of artistic licence going on that day!

Terrible idea for a programme that is intended to reach out to car enthusiasts... where do they get these ideas from?

Would have been better if they had found a salvage or non-runner car and then tutored the teams into fixing them up and getting them into a condition suitable for selling.

The Turbo cab they drove belongs to Greg Harm PCGB RO in the north east lovely car, 95 % of watchers would be clueless so it appeals to the ones that have an interest in cars but zero knowledge i cringed most of the way through it, but will watch the other episodes so I can have a grumble, there's bugger all on Saturday evening TV either way.
I was shouting at the telly when Clarkson trashed that lovely 928 in Argentina.............. kin muppet !

He should have been sacked for that alone, slapping the producer was just a bonus

I can only assume they took the cars apart after the show and re-built them properly. I hate to think how many issues there were.

Considering one was a 944 and the other a Lotus just like my mate has (although he has now bought a Boxster as well) I thought it should be an excellent program ... But alas nah.

How is "How fast can you throw a car together from a heap of parts" a sound undertaking? There was almost no technical content, aside the Lotus has a rear engine stay, and I am inclined to think the whole thing was faked. Some of the historical reference pieces were quite good but didn't really account for enough time to make up for the rest of my life that they stole. I don't think I'll bother with any of the others.

I seem to remember it was an S2 engine when they were getting it on the engine hoist. I'm not sure where they found the other team as they didn't seem to know how an engine hoist worked and to dive in trying to do the job with all the other parts still under their feet was pretty shoddy all round.

The "Ladies" were certainly more organised but they didn't happen to show the wing they graunched while putting on the bonnet.

Having fought with the headlamp lifters and cunning hidden fixings for the badge panel myself I find myself even more convinced it was all a con.
