Misty Mornings

I have a 98 996 C2 with, what would appear to be, fully functioning air con. I have had the car for 5 years.

Recently, the car has started to mist up in the mornings which it has never done before of previous winters etc. Its pretty bad rather than just a light mist!

Yesterday it was even iced up!

Any ideas?

Thanks for that, will have a look at it or try.

Is it something I can do myself?

Can you visibly see if it needs replacing?

Thanks,

Rob

Dead easy - takes 3 minutes.

1) Open boot & remove battery cover
2) Use a T-25 Torx bit to remove the screw holding the nearside plastic cover on
3) Remove plastic cover - it catches on the windscreen reservoir filler cap but can be eased over
4) Under the screen plastic you will see the filter lurking. Pull it out from the centre of the car side pivoting it at the N/S/F corner

Refitting is the exact reverse of removal

Here's mine - as you can see, it's a bit grey & grungy looking. If it's black it's definitely overdue for a change. Leaves etc. will also hold moisture so get rid of any you find.

Nick,

Did you just take that picture, or did you just happen to have a picture of your pollen filter ?? !!

Don't want to throw a spanner in the works but i also have a 98, 996 C2 and last week my car on the passenger side started to mist up on both the passenger side window and the window behind. Just had a very expensive service done, including pollen filter replacement. Any ideas!!!!

Nick - Thanks for your replies, I will give that a go at the weekend.

David - Maybe the filter hasnt been replaced correctly, hence it only starting to mist now. Or, you have some leaves etc. on it now!

Nick,

I'm not quite sad enough to have a picture of my pollen filter lying about. It was a slow day today, so I went out & took the picture [:D]

That's how I know it takes 3 minutes!
