Misty windows??

My car seems to be struggling with the wet weather we're having.

It is perfectly dry inside - there's no water leaks, but when I start the engine and the interior air flow starts, the windows start to mist up... I then have to sit and wait for the a/c to kick in and demist the windows.

I seem to recall my old 964 doing this too.

Is there something wrong, or do all 993s do this?

Hi Sundeep

Yes.

It was recharged this summer, and works fine, but it just takes a few mins to get going.

in that case that can be quite normal..... a bit annoying but even mine did that... normally after just being through a car wash ! etc

partly solved by cleaning the inside of the windows and having the windows open when you run the fans on (temp equalisation to the outside) later helps more........

Mine does the same. I am guessing that moisture collects in the system somewhere and when the fans initially start blowing they are just delivering moist air. Once the AC starts to function it removes the moisture and the situation improves.

although I've heard stories about you and steamed up windows ? [:-]

Mine too. 1994 Carrera 2 #311775. My aircon not working so have to use demister button & it clears whilst warming up.

Have you checked for water-soaked foam under-lay recently ? Leaks can develop without warning and go undetected for years ... Often the only sign is misty windows.

I may have the answer to this one.
If the pollen filters are not changed every year they hold the moisture as they get dirtier and end up blowing damp air straight onto the screen.
This has been a problem on many cars (inc 993) that ive had/worked on and it clears the problem every time[:D]
