Mixing Bridgestone S02 / S02-A N3

Hi All,

I need to change front and rear tyres on my C4 and wondered if running Bridgestone S02A tyres at the front and Bridgestone S02 tyres at rear (both N3) would be okay?

Are the compounds significantly different (being both N3 or would S02 (N1 / N3) mix be better - just sourcing S02 N3 fronts seems very tricky.

Can anyone advise?

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Richard,

You are correct as usual... :)

S02 were directional, whereas S02-A appear to be asymetrical with some directional grooves. Not sure if compounds are softer on one or the other, but would be interesting to know for future reference.

I have decided to go for S02-A front and rear for the C4. I believe S02-A (N3) is listed by Porsche as a recommended tyre for the 996, whereas all S02's I have seen appear to be N1/N2 and were not on porsche gb site list of 996 spec tyres.

Also be interested to know if tyre pressures need to differ between brands of tyres? I have Pirelli at present 35f/40r.

Also keen to know if anyone has tried S02/SO2-A tyres on trackdays?

Thanks,

Steve

Just to report Pirelli Pzero tyres came off the car to be replaced by Bridgestone SO2-A tyres front and rear and I must say it has vastly improved the ride and grip levels. Handling is more consistent and progressive if a little less 'pointy' .Seem a little quieter too.

Very impressed with the bridgestones and construction appeared to be better quality also when I looked at tyres during the fitting at a local garage.

Can't comment on wear rate, but was pleased to get Pirelli tyres off.
