Mixing tyres

The rear tyres of my 997 have worn to the limit at just under 10k miles but the fronts are good for several thousand miles still.

The car has Continental Contac as supplied by Porsche.

I would like to change to Michelin Pilots - is it OK to just replace the rears with the Continentals still on the front , should I put Continentals on the back or should I replace the whole shooting match with Michhelins.

( Car on 19" wheels with PASM etc)

Your help would be appreciated.

the recommended answer would be no, best to keep all the same as different brands would have different handling characteristics, i.e. technology implication for all those sensors

although if you have to mix I would and have previously had different N spec tyres of the same brand on different ends of the Axle, well it was the 1st set and it came with the car...

otherwise I always run the same brand and spec front and rear....

Do not mix....

Get another set of rears then when they wear out you should be ready for a complete new set. Then change brands if you want to.....
