MK Classic Car Rally

Unfortunate timing saw this year's MK Classic Car Rally coincide with the Cotswold Rally - fortunately for me, as it turned out, as my car failed me and had to be trailered to OPC Silverstone. The weather was terrific and I did get some photos of the excellent turnout - which included a slew of Porsches.

Chris, what happened? I thought I saw your car happily trundling towards Towcester around 11.00?

A great day. Weather, good cars, nice route from what I saw. Shame I couldn't do it all......still there's next year.

Keep the Road Book - I'd be interested in running a mimi tour for the R10 members later in the year...

Just before Silverstone village it decided to loose power then stall. If I left it for a few minutes, it would restart but after a couple of hundred yards, it did the same trick. Rather than having it fail in a particularly dangerous place, I pulled over when I found a good spot and called Porsche Assist. Its now with OPC Silverstone - and I'm driving an Astra! I hope their analysis computer reveals something they can fix coz I wouldn't ever trust it again otherwise. I'm wondering if its a blocked fuel filter - no warning lights came on at all.

Yeah, shame you couldn't make it, but...

I certainly will - there's some great roads on that route - and not too many speed cameras or humps!

Car fixed and returned today - it was a failed fuel pump. No question of any charges - all taken care of by the 12-month used car warranty. Very smoothly handled by OPC Silverstone, who were very communicative.

So, I still haven't been to the Porsche Driving Experience!

Mike, was it you that followed me from J13 to the start? I was in the stone grey C2, and will be seeing you at Millbrook CAT in a couple of weeks :)

It was a good route, I've got the map book from both this year and last year too.

Spyderman, the Porsche Driving Experience track was good, quite tight but you can get some reasonable speed.... the skidpan on the other hand was as slippery as s**t on teflon! My data logger said I hit a max of 12.5mph and the promptly put it through 540 degrees :D

Roll on next years event.....

Steve

Yes, it was me...[:)]

Your C2's interior suggests that you use the car seriously (i.e. on-track) - is it modded underneath too?

See you on 17th
