Ladies and gentlemen,
I currently have my car in being serviced, MOT'd etc.
As I have mentioned here previously I have fitted the MO30 springs and Bilsteins that many others have chosen as an upgrade option. However, the feedback I am receiving from the service department is that fitting the rear MO30 springs with these shocks is incorrect and will result in an MOT failure because:
I have to honest I simply lowered the car partially and then stuck my hand in behind the wheel to make sure the spring had seated correctly before lowering completely and letting the spring take full weight.
Now I think about it perhaps it needs a modification to the top seat to enable the spring to be held in place (at the top) during extension of the shocks. The reason for suggesting holding the spring against the top seat is because the bottom 'seat' is flat so incorrectly locating at the bottom is not an issue.
Are there any parts (in addition to those illustrated already on the shock here:
http://www.carnewal-europe.com/cpx/p93089.jpg) which need to be fitted above the lock ring prior to installation of the spring?
I re-used the original top seats for both front and rear, has anyone had to use a different type when going for this option?
Feedback very much appreciated.
Thanks Alex

However, the feedback I am receiving from the service department is that fitting the rear MO30 springs with these shocks is incorrect and will result in an MOT failure because:
- The rear spring is not positively held in place when the car is jacked up, i.e. the distance between the spring 'seats' when the shock is at full extension is greater than the uncompressed length of the spring, potentially leading to incorrect seating of the spring during jacking operations;
- The lower end of the spring sits directly on the adjuster collar, the design of which is such that the spring can come into contact with the threads on the body of the shock (the front shock lock ring has a raised 'inner lip' which the spring locates onto so this is not an issue at the front).
