MO30 refresh

What are my low cost options? After a recent back to back ride about with a 968, my car felt a bit old, and a bit soggy - how much am I looking at to perhaps replace the bushes on my car, maybe rebuild the dampers if they require it? Car is an 88 Turbo S.

And, nope, sadly my wallet can't take going to KW...

Chris.

Well Promax will refurb your M030 for £359: http://www.promaxmotorsport.com/

And the rears are about £99 per side I think. In terms of bushes have a word with Stuart at K300 Performance about Powerflex bushes. It'll definately be worth refreshing your ARB bushes with Poly bushes.

KLA Industries ARB stiffening brackets are only £20 from ESS and will ensure your ARB drop links are not buckling.

Without a shadow of a doubt refreshing your M030 struts will make a world of difference. I'll bet they've not been refurbed for years if at all. You wouldn't neglect your brakes for such a long time.

968 castor bushes are about £60 a pair

Also a 4 wheel alignment will sharpen things up. And if you want really sharp steering response try a pair of monoball top mounts. They wont degrade your ride quality as much as you think.

This little lot should come in for an affordable price and will transform your handling.

Erk. Chequebook time perhaps! How much would the labour be to sort the bushes? Is it a sod of a job?

I have had a four wheel alignment btw.

Well you can change the castor bushes yourself without a re-alignment and you can replace the ARB bushes yourself if you are handy with a jack and a pair of axel stands. The KLA brackets are a real pain to install so you are probably better off getting a mechanic to replace them with the car high up on a ramp. I reckon an hours labour is all it would take to replace ARB bushes for someone who knows what they're doing.

M030 refresh is going to be £700 by the time you've had a re-alignment. These things never come cheap unfortunately.

I had mine rebuilt at Sportsline Suspension Brackley 01280-702633 who are one of three Koni agents in the UK.

They charged £100 a side plus £100 to remove and refit to the car, but that was three years ago so the Promax price is pretty competitive and Roger and Andy probably work on more 944s than Sportsline do

I have a set of M030 rear shocks, bought new from OPC and only did a few k miles before I replaced with KW. £50 for the pair. Front struts and springs (but no top mounts) also for sale if interested.
