Mo30 stuff valued.

OK guys in view of my purchase of the KW race suspension going on in 4 weeks I will have a bunch of Mo30 stuff coming off. I need to get an idea of what it's worth. It consists of front adjustable Koni's which have been just totally rebuilt inc. revalving and shortened shaft to marry with custom stiffer/shorter springs. Ergo the springs as well + collars and top mounts. I also have my original turbo 's' sway bars which are front 26.8mm and rear 18mm. Also there are the rear Koni's and 968cs helper springs which have done all of 800k's. Basically whatever comes off will be up for sale. To give you an idea of replacement value in Australia the front Koni's are worth something like $2500 each without springs, top mounts! Did someone say each???!! The Mo30 top mounts are $1000 pair. The rear shocks, springs, and collars cost me $1600 for the set. I have a few guys interested here and that would be easier to ship I guess, but they don't want to pay much past $2500 for the lot. I'm just wondering what you guys would value a bolt on Mo30 suspension pack at?
I will convert from Pounds and you could convert from $Aussie just to see what we pay for stuff all the way down under.

I tend to sell my used bits at half the dealer pre-sales tax price, unless it is something that wears significantly (ans is worn, of course!). Based on that I'd look to achieve $3,800 or a little more for the whole kit if I were you.

I'd welcome comments on my used parts pricing policy, actually.

For buying, as opposed to selling, I`ld pay max 33% of the new price for something I want to keep. Somewhere like ebay I`ld only pay 1/6th "new" price. But that`s not specifically car parts. Obviously if you`re buying with a view to reselling at 33% of new price, and want a 100% profit you need to buy at 1/6. So Fen if you can sell at 50% I think you are doing well for your car parts. Using the above for 333`s parts(cost 5100), makes them worth to me 1683, so take 2500 and be pleased.PS sorry thats not an offer to buy your parts![:D]

Regardless of 50% or 33%, Patrick's parts cost $7,600 + whatever the front springs and ARBs are worth, not $5,100.

I guess you won't be buying any of my parts though, Keith! [:D]

I think generally for 2nd hand kit that is in good nick like your recently refurbed Koni's then Fens 50% rule is a good starting point - I certainly wouldn't pay more than 50% of new cost for 2nd hand kit off ebay or out of the paper classifieds. However in this case you've also got to consider the cost of newer, more modern and arguably better aftermarket kit like KW's. Speaking personally, if the cost difference was less than say £400 i'd rather pay the extra get a brand new set of KW's than a 2nd hand M030 set up.

I've seen 2nd hand M030 kits (un-refurbished front suspension struts, rear shocks, ARB's and brakes) in the UK go for about £1200 but as I said before personally i'd rather pay the extra £200 or so and get the new KW's (I think the KW's are about £1400 in this country). But if you find a buyer who specifically wants the OEM M030 stuff then I'm sure you'd easily shift the stuff for top dollar.

Actually there was something you had a few months ago that I wanted but you had it reserved for someone else. Blowed if I can remember what it was and thats going to irritate me for the rest of today! Jog my old memory Fen...then we can talk percentages...[8|]

I'm trying to think what I have sold that would have been any use on your car. 968 cubby hole. Top mounts. 968 M030 ARBs. Boxster alloys. Sunroof bag?

I think percentages are a waste of time: it's more to do with desirability and supply.
Look at the cost of 996/Boxster clear headlights on Ebay: they regularly go for around 66-85% of new price inc. VAT.
On the other hand I've picked up a MAF for £40 when they are £250 from an OPC.

I think you're absolutely right in what you say, though a MAF is something that wears out (or at least they die at some point and an old one could have minimal life left in it whereas a new one has the maximum) and I guess I'd mark up something I knew to be rare and highly desirable.

eBay is a good way to let things find a value, though factors like the quality of the listing, the time of day it ends, the time of the month or of the year (I got some cracking bargains just after Christmas) play a part.

I hope the MAF is new (that's what the ad says and it looks unfitted) :)
I'd go for time of year out of your list if I had to put one at the top and I suspect you might too given your remarks about post-Xmas bargains.
I noticed June seemed a bit slack, got a 944 speedo/console for £29 inc. delivery, and a 996 amp for about the same.
