Mo30 suspension

I ordered my kit in Feb this year, as some may remember like Steve, Richard, the kit was not the right set with shocks missing. After a frustrating time trying to get what I should have, the correct kit turned up, my local chap who is fitting it fellow C4 and boxster owner noted the top mount bushes and bearings are in a bad way so after 2 days of waiting and my car sitting on his ramp the new bearings should be delivered to my OPC in the morning and fitted to my car on Monday. I just pray it feels good after such a lot of time and hassle. The car is due for a service in October normally JZ do it so I will get it all set up with a full geometry check once its had time to settle.

I'm excited in a nerves kind of way.

Cheers PJ

Do you know something I don't then, wishing me needed luck? I got it all at the discounted price, tried to get more of a discount but they wouldn't move on the price even with all the hassle, however the new bushes they gave me 20% off instead of 10% which was helpful. When taking off the old parts they noticed Anti Roll bars warn, and for a few years I have felt the handling to be not how a 996 should handle, so taking into account the discounted parts and no plan to sell the car at present I think new shocks and suspension could be a very good idea, I think the car will benefit visually from the slightly lowered set up as well as give excellent handling, from what others have said. Does anyone have any pictures of there 996 with this kit on ? Cheers Phil

Arraid not as mine sits a lot lower than Mo30. It sounds like you are finally getting there, I hope you like the improvement and find it was worth the wait :)

All booked for the M030 in 3 weeks time by the folks at Centre Gravity. Only been waiting 4 months, so not too bad!!!!

Thanks for the luck need a bit of it on this one. I will report back when it's done with my comments over how it all is. Cheers Phil

I was pretty lucky, mine only took a couple of months, and I fitted it in a couple of evenings :) So pleased the kit had all of the correct bits in it. Let us know how you both get on :)

They had a right game with the front end freeing off some of the bolts, and as for the top mounts I am glad they are being replaced, i had been noticing some knocking noises only very slight but didn't sound quiet right. Steve, have you had a geometry set up done since fitting, I will get mine done in a month or so when I get the service done at either JZ or my local OPC as there prices are now so low on older cars for servicing but can't break away from the total honesty of my indie anyway that's a complete another subject. Phil

Hi, Yes I had it re-done at my local formula one just around the corner from me. Normally I don't use these places but I know a few chaps down there from the Audi tuning scene - cost was about £100 IIRC, they spent a good amount of time on it adjusting everything. When they did a print out of the figures pretty much everything was out to start with. Even with marking things you can never get it all back exactly where it was, and the camber changed dramatically with such a drop (had it adjusted once before) especially on the back where the wheels looked like they were going at quite a severe angle up under the arches. I might get it double checked next time I go to Northway just to make sure it's a good setup, but it all looked good to me, and more than happy with they way it handles now :)

Plus If the shocks are original, there's a strong possibility that it won't be in the right position anyway.

All done, drove it back from work today, first thought much tighter, better handling and less body roll. I'm very pleased. The car sits lower much more noticeable on the front end. The chaps that fitted it said they had a few problems with un doing some of the nuts and bolts. They cleaned everything up that needed a bit of TLC. I intend to drive it a couple of hundred miles to let it all settle then have a full geometry check done and I think it will be perfect for my style of driving. O and the ride felt great to me not to hard, just sporty. Cheers Phil

Stiffer shockers, 10mm lowering springs, and stiffer anti-roll bars. The M029 suspension on the C4S and Turbo is a halfway house, as it already has 10mm lowering springs. The M030 "equivalent" for these models is the X73 kit, which lowers it 20mm, by means of uprated shockers only. It it is also supplied with a revised engine mounting, for some reason.

I am very pleased with the m030 kit, I was worried that it was going to be to hard but it's perfect, then again i use to own a caterham so got use to feeling every bump. The m030 with the PSE, means i can now challenge anyone who says the 996 is boring. Even after 8 years of ownership, it puts a big smile on my face.

M030 went on yesterday along with 4 track control arms, 2 front diagonal arms, a new inner rod end and more wax spray that I've seen in a long time. The work was done by Chris at Center Gravity with an almost obsessive attention to detail; it was a long day, I left home at 6am got home at 9pm after a 1hr 45min drive each way. It was worth it, it felt like I was driving a new car home.
