MOMO steering wheel

Aha - interested in the replies! I have the carbon steering wheel that I need to remove to try to repair the cracks in the clear coat. I want to install a Momo as a temporary solution and just to try one out.
There are cheaper versions?

Hi, just a couple of points from experience.

I fitted a Momo prototipo to my SC a long time ago and I have been really pleased with it.
I guess some people might disagree but the feeling through the wheel is much better than the original wheel (likely due to shape and size of the Momo).
Only small downside (but you may not have this ''issue'' on your model) is that it now blocks some of the speedo from my line of sight but really not a big problem as far as I am concerned.

With regards to cheaper version, can I just offer a word of warning. There are very good cheaper version of ''race'' steering wheels on the market but also some very very poorly made ones so be careful. If you want a Momo, make sure you buy a genuine one (I have seen fakes twist and deform under pressure) and for other cheap wheels, even seen one snap a branch in one of the race series I was involved with....Considering this is a steering wheel just make sure you do some research before pressing the buy button...(but as said, some other brands do make really good cheaper alternatives).

Hi All
I do not want to be a killjoy, but in doing this mod there are two main things to consider, firstly since 2013 replacing an airbag wheel with a non airbag type would going by the book defiantly fail the MOT if it’s done correctly. Yes a lot pass with no mention of the issue and that’s fine but something to bear in mind.
Secondly you should ideally notify your insurance company that you have removed the airbag wheel, not many of them will be happy that you have removed this safety device and yes lots of people chance it and don’t mention the issue, but you may find it a problem if you’ve nutted the windscreen and picking glass out of your eye.
