[8D]Well just a quick note,am goin 2
the F1event in May,and found it hard
to book a hotel,around £2600 a night in
Monaco,so decided Menton for a hotel,
erm no such luck!all fully booked.
But am Mr.Persistent,found a 4star in
Nice on the sea front for £175 a night,so am booked
and ready 2go with my bro!
Does anybody know where the route Napoleon goes
from Monaco?
Can't wait to the bends come up on the
Sat nav display, sorry it's a xbox Forza drivin thing!
Happy driving,Dave.

I am sure you will enjoy the drive down. I went last year along with a large group of my friends and hope to do it again this year. We drove on the motorway from Calais to Gap and took the Napoleon from there.

The Route Napoleon is a fantastic road, but you will find that it does not go into Monaco.

It is not far from Nice to Monaco and there are lots of secure car parks in Monaco to leave your car.

I would recommend that you book a secure parking space for your car in Nice, as some parts of Nice are really not that nice (to leave a car on the street).

[:)]Hi,
Thanks very much for the tips most helpful, and have booked an underground secure car space at the hotel.
It is 20 euro a night but seems worth it as will be less of headache knowing the cars fairly safe!

Did you drive straight through from Calais to Monaco or have overnight stop,am not sure whether to stop at Dijon.
I did go through non stop on my motorcycle once, but wondered what you could advise?
Thanks in advance,Dave.

Last year we drove down to Gap and stayed over night. We drove the Route Napoleon from there.

We drove back in one hit on the Monday. I am not sure I would recommend that (especially that many of us woke up with stonking hangovers - except me of course), but the drive back was not that much fun.

I have driven to and from the South of France many times and normally have no problem doing it in one hit. If you plan to drive a more scenic route, you may want to stop over night.

[:)]Dillon,thanks for the help.
On Tuesday went on one of those track days at Brands Hatch,in the BMW M3.
It was pretty good, but I found the Beemer a bit heavy around the corners!
Nice power about 420bhp,quite good to hammer a car around the track as it's not yours!
It did sort of wallow a bit under heavy braking going into Paddock,at around 100mph,
worth trying but the cornering is nowhere near a Porsche.
Cheers,and looking 4some sunshine at the weekend![8|]
