Mondy commuter own up time

come on then its `fess up' time Who has got a Mondeo as there daily work car.? I've got a 1996 Mondy Mk1 TDi in white . If that isn't the most embarrasing vehicle you've ever heard of then I want to know what you got . ( its always the only car covered in flies ? wots that all about then ??)

Mind you making no complaints about fordy . He does 200 miles every day up hill and down dale without complaint. The only time in 2 years he broke down was this week when his dumb owner , half asleep used the wrong key in the ignition and thought the battery was flat so took the S2 to work ![:D]

nothing wrong with a Mondeo - my previous runaround was a very battered Mondeo estate, bought for £700. Used it for a year without spending a penny on it and then sold it to the company I work at for £500. Bargain [:D]
Since then I have gone down hill in the credibility stakes and my daily hack is now the most hated car on this forum - a Chavaru! Still, the combination works for me. Just waiting for the price of Jag X-type estates to drop a bit, as I quite fancy one of those next.

I love my little BM nearly as much as my 944 [:D]

It's on 160k now of which i've covered about 60k in 4 years & it just refuses to go wrong due to meticulous maintenance. Full history from new & still mint (& just as important original). The drive to work is always fun whichever car i take although i'm a bit bored of reps/estate agents tailgaiting me. I do wish people would respect well looked after older cars that would be written off due to a fairly minor knock to the rear!

Mine's a Peugeot ... bicycle! Attractive pale blue (not unlike the Baltic blue of my S2, actually) and excellent MPG. Open-top, drinks-holder (unlike my S2) and digital speedometer (also unlike my S2). Slightly less power, but no problems with head gaskets or clutches. Or suspension, come to think of it.

Don't have a Mondeo but do knock about in a 1983 Toyota Celica every now and then,it fizzes in the rain and holes are appearing but it always starts and passes its MOT,it is mainly used for parking in dodgy areas and getting takeaways, too reliable to sell.We love it.

drinks holder?..... dayum ! now thats one-up-man-ship [:D]
Oh, and it has a fantastic brake proportioning system as well. Very easily adjustable front:rear bias. Great for compensating in slippery conditions.

[:D] Mine is a Canondale. 24 gears, digital speedo, digital revcounter, built in GPS built in HRM (i have seen 107% regularly) fuel consumption readout, altitude, adjustable air suspension front and back. 105 db air horn... (necessary for traveling along Camden Road). Consumption : 530 Kcal per 8 miles. = 1x Tesco Bacon and avo sandwhich = £2.60. per day.

To work: Car 40min , Tube 35 min, cycle 18min, run .... I am not an antelope and Camden is not the Serangeti.

I did have a Toyota matt red dustbin in Edinburgh when I lived there to save the Porky from the cobbles. The column switch gear is opposite to the german layout to I ended up turning with the wipers going on both cars eventually. Got it for nowt, cost nothing to service, and gave it away when I emmigrated to England. Still running years later as far as I know.

Orange Prestige with XT groupo - Flight saddle, Zoom stem, lots of titanium, Mavic rims and Ritchy Kevlar tyres - this was top line stuff 15 years ago when I built it. [:)] Alas it gets used very seldom these days - I find I am so much faster in my memories.

My other vehicle is a 3.0 ltr V6 Mondelander (The best bits from a Mondeo and a Freelander rolled up into one with some Jaguar charisma) AKA Jaguar X Type. I 'd like a 3.0ltr Premium Sport Estate, now that we have Mostyn the dog, but they don't seem to be around 2nd hand with light coloured interiors and manual gears. [:(]

Belinda has a V8 Land Rover. With 0 cylinders on the bike, 4 cylinders on the 944, 6 cylinders on the Jag and 8 cylinders on the Land Rover I now need something with 10 or perhaps 12. Ah an Aston then [8D][8D][8D]

When its nice I go in the 944(roof off whenever possible) but when its a wet nasty day I go in my 2 year old Skoda Fabia or if I feel really fit I go by pedal power[;)]

gorgeous Norton.
Had a 66 beeza Spitfire couple of years ago but had to sell it due to my back. Really miss all the fettling and oil leaks etc and especially white fingers numb hands

See below.

Planning on keeping Smokey for a year (which is up in October). Possible relacements are original C-Class or 3-Series clattery things.

Also, shock horror, thinking about finally moving on the old girl after over 10 years and buying a 964. Still goes like a train with 190K on the clock, just got back from a faultless run to Le Mans and back (in the rain and mud!).

You'll beee sorrreeeeee! [8|]

I think I should be giving a suitable reply to this one, but I haven't thought of one yet [8|]

My name is George, and I am a Mondeo owner.

Damned reliable thing it is though - it's a year 2000 model, I've had it since it was 9 months old and it's never broken down in th 70000 miles I've driven. it's a diesel estate, and while it was known for decent handling in it's ime, since I've had the Porsche, it seems to handle worse than those soap box carts we had as kids!

I just need a 'My other car's a Mondeo' sticker now!
